This is a very informative book about the importance of Torogan, and the elements that surrounds it, in Maranao culture. Also, the discussion of the conflict between the existence of traditional and the introduction of electoral system, albeit facile, is thought-provoking.

By the way, in honor of the Eid al-Fitr, I started reading this book before the special event and finished reading it before the end of the occasion. Additionally, I bought this gem for just Php. 30.00 along Recto Ave. -- what a great steal.

This is a good introduction to the Maranao culture and tradition. Dr. Madale talks about the significance of the torogan and how central it was to the lives of the Maranaos. The book is also an eye-opener as Dr. Madale shares his views on the radical change in the Maranao community and how it affects the Maranaos even today.
