A mid-20th-century American illustrator, known primarily for her work on children's books and magazines, Ruth King was born in Chicago, and educated at the Art Institute of Chicago. She later became a member of the AIC. She lived for many years in New York City, illustrating over one hundred books for young people, before retiring to a rural home in New Jersey.
