Magic with Maths takes a look at arithmetic, geometry, algebra, statistics, probability, number theory, percentages and time. The simpler topics like arithmetic, percentages and time are amenable to a reasonably thorough treatment - including basic principles, shortcuts and amusing and sometimes insightful riddles. The section on geometry is also instructive although it would have been nice to include figures of the various shapes discussed.

The rest of the subjects especially, statistics and probability, require a real textbook for understanding. And I think the hope would be that the information presented on these subjects would wet the appetite of the reader to follow up with more reading and study. All in all though Magic with Maths is a very worthwhile starter for the young, or young at heart, who wish to broaden their knowledge of some very interesting subjects.
