After your read this book, you will think differently about the valiant veterans and their lives as they return to the USA. Another insight on the State of Texas, youth and war.
Very Good Book. The more I think about it after reading, the more impressive I am with the book. I live in the Dallas area and I'm not sure how much a familiarity of the Dallas Cowboys and their organization makes difference in the impression the book makes. Some the scenes are classic Cowboys stories---As everyone knows the everything's bigger in Texas. And Mr. Fountain lays it on. Plus, as the world knows, the Cowboys are God's team.
Not my favorite...reminds me of Flags of our Fathers where vets are paraded around to drum up support for "the war.". I was especially disturbed by the parking lot brawl...uncalled for. I realized too that there's this whole part of "middle America" to which I cannot relate.
