✒️Slow moving autobiographical narrative that did not keep my interest as much as I anticipated. Yet, I am sure it served its purpose in 1866.

Short, stark
Jackson's memoir lacks the melodrama of other slavery escape accounts. It does however illustrate the shifting and often self serving motivations for unionism and loyalty in the Civil War.
