About the author

Mark Wallace Maguire is an author, writer, and speaker whose work explores the intersection of art, faith, and special needs. He is the author of But First, We Must Begin in the Dark: A Father’s Journey into Special Needs & Faith, as well as the Alexandria Rising Chronicles, an action adventure series that has reached readers across the globe and is also available on Audible.

A lifelong storyteller, Maguire writes across genres and he is influenced by authors and thinkers including C.S. Lewis, Henri Nouwen, Frederick Buechner, Ferrol Sams, and Flannery O’Connor.

Maguire is also a C.S. Lewis scholar and speaker, presenting lectures and workshops on Lewis. In 2026, he presented at the Henri Nouwen Conference at the University of St. Michael’s College in Toronto, where he explored The Power of the Wounded Healer: Embracing Brokenness as a Means to Leadership.

The Georgia Humanities Council named him as a member of the inaugural Georgia Circuit and he teaches classes throughout the state on creative writing and Georgia literature.

This trilogy kept my attention through all three books..The author remains faithful to his writing style, which I really appreciated...Short sentences..short chapters...and jerping a sense of adventure and intrigue throughout ....! I can see the possibility of a fourth book!

I was very curious whether the author could deliver this final installment of the trilogy and really complete the story. The unanswered questions seemed to be too many and too strung out. I also wondered if he could deliver on keeping the level of interest and sense of thrill intact through this final book. He was successful on all of my wondering and questions. He finished the story with the answers provided - and they exceeded my hopes. He pulled the various strings together to make a satsifying end to the story. I can look back to starting the first of the Alexandria stories and feel very positive about investing this much time in reading them.

Now if the author will just turn out another trilogy or even a few side stories from this I will be even more satisfied. I particularly wonder if he will take on the story of Winston - enigmatic character that he is. Winston sounds like the guy I would want as a neighbor - just so I could continue to ‘milk’ the stories out of him for years to come.

A continual ride of adventure! Wow! I have now read all of the books in this exciting trilogy, and this one was wonderful. I was so ready for this book after the first two. The characters were vivid, the action non-stop, and the ending had me in tears. You must read this, but read the other two first or you will be lost. You will not regret it. I could not put it down and devoured it in a little over two hours. Wonderful and energetic read. I hated for it to end. Fabulous adventure story!

Great story

Even though I have not read the preceeding 2 books, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There is something liberating about reading only the exciting finish and denouement. I'm sure that I would have enjoyed the first 2 books but I completely understood the sequence from this 3rd and final book.

When Is the Movie Coming Out

I wasn't disappointed. All 3 books in this series have been a wild-ride read and I enjoyed every page!!! What a terrific movie series this would make! I wonder if Josh Gates from Expedition Unknown on the Discovery Channel can act? I can easily see him as Rand O'Neal.

This 3 book series was a very good read for me. The characters were believable, a bit gory, but no overly so. The plot and story line were really good. The 3rd book was a bit short and probably could have been included in book 2. But one wound't have know the outcome if one hadn't read book 3.

Really no need for this separate book. Could have been concluded in the last book. I still do not like the main character, Rand. His character or lack there of has not improved any. He is still an immature childish man.

The author indicates this is the end...but there is so much more to learn. Hope the series continues someday! Rand and Hope have more adventures to face.
