True story: she got her first non-fiction book deal thanks to a blog post and Pinterest. Currently she is busy wrapping up a literature review of a project she's been tinkering with since 2007.
Pamela's second non-fiction book, "Gifted, Bullied, Resilient: A Brief Guide for Smart Families" was released by GHF Press in July 2015. Her first non-fiction book, "How to Work and Homeschool: Practical Advice, Tips, and Strategies from Parents," was released by GHF Press in 2013 to praise from within the homeschool community.
There is no practical advice or even theoretical framework in this book. The whole thing reads like a sales pitch for a pyramid scheme and none of it is actually useful information.
This assumes independently working students. Not the case in elementary. I expected more practical guidance on the physically how and where kids go who. We'd supervision while you work.
I love How to Work and Homeschool. And not just because my friend, Pamela, wrote it. I love it because it's thorough and hopeful and helpful and chock full of amazing resources. There's so much in How to Work and Homeschool that applies to life and the work/life balance, whether one is a homeschooler or not. My kids are in public school, but I've been working from home since 2005. Pamela's practical tips and advice are great for work-from-home parents no matter if they homeschool or not. I've been highlighting and earmarking sections like crazy!
good - I would definitely read again and refer back to. This was a very useful, handy book. Even though I don't have children of my own yet, I have been contemplating homeschooling my children. This book does exactly as the title suggests: it gives practical advice and strategies from homeschooling parents. I really enjoyed "meeting" the parents and learning how they juggle work and homeschool. I was very skeptical about making it work before - it's a relief to know there are others out there with advice and support. I will be referring back to this book for many years to come!~
