Working with the Dead

Rate this book
"A must for those with an interest in Death. Working with the Dead provides a readable and true account of the author's encounters with Death, before and after she became an embalmer. Without a doubt this sometimes humorous, yet sensitive and caring approach to death and embalming, will keep the reader gripped on every page. Anecdotes from her personal life and experience make the book engrossing, sad and sometimes funny-but it is not for the faint hearted.

Working with the Dead opens doors to modern embalming and caring for the dead in a way that is easily understood by those wishing to follow the art.

Make yourself comfortable, lock the door, and prepare to be surprised."

Not nearly as good as i thought, with boring descriptions and jumping around. But! The overuse ! Of !! Did me in!! Not everything needs an exclamation point

Seemed to start fairly well, well written. But then repeats itself and rather than cutting to the good interesting things, focused on boring descriptions of tests, etc. I found her jumping from one thing to another rather strange. Not my favourite book.

I expected so much more from this book, but to be honest the beginning chapters put me off, being too focused on what seemed to be a morbid collection of tales of the dead.

I am wavering between 1 and 2 stars because the book is so shodilly written, unedited, waffly, irrelevant in places. Riddled with typos, random 'use' of 'inverted' commas and hy-phenated words for no rea-son. However I did find some of the information interesting and potentially useful,if only as a warning of what not to do. Unfortunately the author came across as an unlikeable person, to me anyway, always judging and insulting the people she didn't like. Her attitude was terrible! She seems to know what she's doing in her job. She made the funeral industry seem a bit shambolic though.

This book seemed strangely quickly written with multiple typos. I don't think I'd recommend this to a friend.

Very good book

It wasn't too technical. But I really understood the technicalities of embalming. I highly recommend this book. A very good read.

Not what I hoped for

For me the story was too drawn out. I got bored and ended up skipping chapters in hopes of finding something to catch my attention.
