Pattern on Pattern: Spectacular Quilts from Traditional Blocks

Rate this book
Here's how to create dazzling new designs from traditional patterns--simply by enlarging, reducing, rotating, or overlapping basic quilt blocks to create "special effects" of fabric, pattern, and color. This is a great choice for quilters who are looking to create unique effects with simple techniques.

This book was published in 1991 and so some of the quilt illustrations appear dated, but it presents unique design concepts. Reverberant Patterns (think of a stone tossed into the pond creating concentric circles on the pond image) and Transparency (overlapping of the same traditional block in 2 sizes in the quilt design, using 2 color schemes and treating the colors as though they were transparent).
