Superior to the renowned work "Jesus the Christ" in depth and scope. Must read for added insight into the life and times of the Savior.

Reading this series was a huge undertaking, which took a couple of years due to my need to break it into discrete portions. I rated it four stars as a compromise, because in some ways it deserves five, and in some ways it deserves three. It deserves five stars because it contains some passages and even whole chapters or sections that altered my view of my own religion in profound ways, which I think is very valuable. It deserves three stars because it is so difficult to read, with ponderous passages, sometimes extending for hundreds of pages. It also portrays the author's sometimes harsh world view, including some vaguely anti-semitic language and ideas that suggest an inequality between men that I don't agree with. Overall, reading the series was a worthwhile endeavor, and the books are definitely a good resource for topical study of the gospel from an LDS perspective.

I have only read the last book of this series, and I know it's strange to start with the last book first but I couldn't help it. Bruce R's last book is called the Millenial Messiah, and it's all about our day. It's the most incredible book about the 2nd coming, and it's written by an apostle. He writes beautifully and very easy to understand. You'll be able to remember what you've read and know a lot more about the signs of the times and the wonderful things to look forward to. I would recommend this book to all my friends. You can purchase the entire series at Desert book. In paperback it's around 50.00 I'm not sure if you can buy it seperate or not. Or try the library. You'll love it!!

There are 6 books in this series which cover ever segment of the Savior's mission. It could be considered a modern "Jesus the Christ" by Talmage. If you are interested in reading a detailed evaluation of the Savior's life/mission this is a good one. Not much of it is opinion or conjecture but rather it deals with analyzing scriptures and other documents. Not one man's (apostle)testimony of the Savior.

This is a review from someone else but I think it sums up the series real well. I liked it. When you start you think it will be too long but it isn't. It is well referenced and interesting reading, not a commentary. I think if you read the first volume you will want to read the others. Each one is about a different era of the Savior's life.

The Messiah Series

I would recommend all members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and all to read this series. It was quite enlightening and wonderful to relearn and review these things.
