Whether it's crossing the road, a street or even a railroad track, Wally Waddlewater doesn't know the Rules of Safety for Crossing streets, roads or even tracks. But Wally must learn these Rules of Safety if he wants to mail a birthday card to his grandmother. Why? Because in order to get to the mail box he has to cross many of the busy streets of his town. A must read for pre-school and school age children.
Look Left Look Right Look Left Again by Ginger Pate is a fiction picture book, published on February 13, 2013. The intended audience are children under the age of 12 years old, but I believe it is appropriate for individuals of all ages who may not know how to cross the street safely. In 2013 Ginger Pate won the Moonbeam Children’s Book Award for her book Look left, Look Right, Look Left Again. Look left, Look Right, Look Left Again is about a little boy duck name Wally Waddlewater who wants to cross the street to mail off a birthday card to his grandmother but is unsure how to do so safely. His mother teaches him a quote “look left, look right, then look left again to make sure the street is clear” to help him learn how to cross a busy road. Under his mother guidance, Wally learned to cross a busy road safely. I chose this book because it is a great book for young children to relate to while trying to understand the importance of crossing a street safely. I rate this book a 5/5 because the pictures are appealing, the author uses easy friendly and repetitive wording to engage children which repetition helps with memorization. I would recommend this book to individuals who would like their kids to understand the importance of safety.
