Architecture of Systems Problem Solving, Second Edition introduces a comprehensive conceptual framework within which systems of any kind can be properly characterized and classified. This framework is then used for capturing the essence of systems problem solving. A unique feature of the book is that the concepts, systems, problems, and methods are introduced in the context of an architectural formulation of an expert system, which is referred to as the General Systems Problem Solver (GSPS). The skeleton of the GSPS is a hierarchy of epistemological categories of systems. This hierarchy makes it possible to capture the infinite variety of systems problems by a finite set of problem categories. The book serves as a text for a first-year graduate or upper-division undergraduate course covering the fundamentals of systems problem solving, as well as an introduction or reference for students, practicing scientists, and professionals in a wide range of disciplines.
