Walk with Y'Shua Through the Jewish Year

Rate this book
When Jesus (Y'shua) was growing up in Nazareth, the cycle of Jewish holidays He celebrated provided natural opportunities to 'grow in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man' (Luke 2:52). Knowing and following the same holiday cycle that Jesus did will give our children, grandchildren and kids of all ages the opportunity to grow, too. And it's fun! Fifteen Jewish holidays are thoroughly explained and beautifully illustrated, with suggested activities for each. For anyone who loves to teach and learn!

Background of Jewish holidays, deeper analysis of Christian perspective, brief Bible studies for older students, helpful discussion of Jewish and Christian traditions as well as ideas for engaging children in the celebration of these feasts make this a highly recommended book. We did a bit of shortening (skipping the Bible studies) for younger students, but it is nice to have a book that will grow with your child through elementary school.

The book has well done line drawings throughout, but the lack of color illustrations makes it a less engaging publication and decreases the likelihood an elementary age child will seek it out on their own. Nonetheless, a highly recommended resource, particularly for families considering celebrating Jewish festivals throughout a year(s), something I would like to do someday before the kids get too big for sustained family activity. Right now, we are just working on Sabbath!
