This was a great book to read before Easter- on the life and mission of Jesus Christ. I've read other scripture commentaries by David Ridges, and he always makes the scriptures come alive. This book reads more like a novel, using the four gospels as well as the Joseph Smith translation of the Bible to chronologically teach of Christ's life and mission. It'll be a helpful resource to refer to again and again.

This book was wonderful! It's a great study guide if you're reading the New Testament. I love Ridges! He'll put the actual verses from the scriptures in his book and then right below the verse he'll put the Joseph Smith translation of the verse or he'll give added commentary from prophets about what the verse means. He's done several study guides for the Book of Mormon, D& C and so forth, but Our Savior Jesus Christ focuses of those scriptures in the New Testament that deal with the Saviors parables as well as the Atonement. Ridges divides the book into 4 or 5 sections. The first section talks about how the Atonement worked in the pre-existence, then there's a section dealing with the Atonement during Christ's birth, his first year ministry, second year ministry, etc... all the way up to the Atonement in our day. I really liked it. He expounds on the parables of Jesus and his teachings and explains them in ways that are not only understandable but thought provoking as well.

This was an amazing book about Jesus Christ. It detailed out the three years of his mortal mission in excellent detail and thorough use of the four New Testament gospels and other scriptures. I was especially touched by the atonement. I gained some awesome insights about the atonement and how to better apply it in my life. This is like Jesus the Christ, but I felt the prose was easier to understand and absorb. This is a must read for anyone who wants to get to know their Savior better and come to understand more fully his incredible love for all of us.

I read this cover to cover, like a novel. Although this is a good way to read this book. I am glad I own it, so i can use it as a reference book as well. I really liked the chronological order of the book. For the first time, I was able to see how events from the first year of the Savior's ministry lead to future events. I always like studying the last week of the Savior's life. I am so grateful for those events and the impact they have had on my life.

David Ridges has a wonderful way of explaining Gospel doctrine. He opens one's eyes to the times when then scriptures were written, also giving insights and background details which helps one understand everything more clearly.
