Rick NurrieStearns is a quiet person at heart. The language of stillness and silence is healing and joyful and is his most profound teacher. He often says “deep in all our hearts is a profound quiet that reveals the essence of who we actually are.”
Rick has been immersed in consciousness studies for almost four decades. For over 20 years he was involved in publishing spiritual and transformational books and magazines. He was the publisher of the magazines "Lotus: Journal for Personal Transformation" and "Personal Transformation," co-editor of the book "Soulful Living," co-author of "Yoga for Anxiety," "Yoga for Emotional Trauma" and the upcoming "Yoga Mind, Peaceful Mind." Along with his wife Mary, he leads transformational meditation retreats.
He spent a decade deeply engaged in psycho-spiritual healing. He has worked with some of the world’s leading teachers, healers and authors. Eclectic in his approach to personal growth he uses both eastern spiritual and western psychological methods, drawing on what seems truest and most healing in life. Rick prefers a gentle, kind and loving approach to growth that lets him discover his truth and way, rather than learning a theory, or adhering to specific teaching or philosophy.
Rick has suffered from depression and emotional trauma and credits his meditation practice with profound healing. In 2009 he survived a near-fatal airplane crash and relied upon his meditation practice to get through extreme pain and rigorous physical therapy.
Rick enjoys hiking in the mountains, quiet walks in the woods and being outdoors in the moonlight.
