If the lifestyle approach "Pay It Forward" was a book, it would be this, and honestly, I adored it. We must keep Prince and Ozzy away from my boy the dove at all costs.
The Dove’s Letter was a sweet, uplifting tale about a dove who found a letter that she could not put down. She could sense the importance of the letter, and that she must find the recipient of the letter. She traveled all day throughout the town looking for the person to which this letter went. She found several people along the way, who all think that the letter was meant for them. Each time, the dove thought that her journey was over, but each time the person left the letter behind as they run off in excitement. The only time that this did not occur was her last stop, as the day was ending. This person was a soldier, who had just gotten back from deployment. What was the true meaning of the letter? The pictures in this book were dimply done and were similar to an older style of painting with plenty of bright colors, in acrylic paint. Most of the illustrations were two page spreads with the text place separately underneath the illustrations. The pictures show exacting what the dove is doing in the storyline. Overall, this was a cute book with good illustrations to match.
This is a good book to teach students about predicting. It is better to be used with 2nd or 3rd graders. The story is a little repetitive but it keeps students guessing who will get the letter next. The students could write what they think the letter says and share their ideas.
