'I don't know what drives me to kill. All I know is that I like it.' Young, handsome Lesley Eugene Warren was a magnet for the young women who fell for his seductive charm. Little did they know that underneath the beguiling exterior lay a twisted desire to kill. This is a terrifying true account of a serial killer who left a trail of tragedy and death across the East Coast of America. When police eventually caught up with the evil Warren, he admitted that he did not know what drove him to kill. All he knew was that he liked it. These brutal murders shocked and disturbed a community, a community that slept more easily once Warren was finally caught and locked up. Now the horrifying true story is finally revealed in this shocking, sensational book.

On the last page of this 2004 book, the author writes:

"One day at 12:01 a.m., in the not too distant future, Lesley Warren will be taken from his holding cell in the death house of the state penitentiary in Central Prison. He will be strapped to a hospital gurney in North Carolina's brightly-lit, cobalt-blue execution chamber."

I thought, "I would be STUNNED if this has come to pass," and immediately checked online. Needless to say, the execution did not take place in the "not too distant future," nor in the subsequent sixteen years since publication.
