The People's Bible
Romans
Many people have found The People’s Bible to be the most reliable Bible commentary series published. It’s the laypeople’s Bible—down to earth, clearly written, easy to read and understand, filled with practical and contemporary applications. Each volume includes that book’s complete text from the NIV Bible. The Christ-centered commentaries following the Scripture sections contain explanations of the text, historical background, maps, illustrations, and archaeological information. The People’s Bible commentaries are great for personal or group study. On his missionary journeys, Paul heard about the Christians in Rome. He wrote his letter to the Romans to strengthen their faith so that they might help him spread the gospel farther to the west. For over two thousand years, Christians have treasured Romans for its clear and pure presentation of God's grace to sinners.

While I felt that Panning got me a little lost in his grammar explanations sometimes, I was glad to have the chance to slow down and appreciate God's grace in contrast with the unrighteousness of all people. A good companion as I read through Romans.

Not as in depth as the commentary by Kuske, but wonderful for bringing out the intent of the book - reminding us it is by grace we are saved. I especially like the commentary on our sanctified life and how works are a result of faith and not necessary for salvation, but will be present in a believers life.

Pretty good. It didn't go quite as deeply as I would have liked, but is a good companion to reading through Romans.
