Rate this book
The story of Kate, Kyle and Reed continues in this second novel of The Perfect Series.

Kate (Katherine) Monroe is finally coming to heads with the decisions she’s made in the past to keep herself distracted at any cost. Learning to move on and forward with the conflicts in her life is harder than she expects though. With Kyle continuing to attempt reconciliation and Kate’s mom back at home, avoiding and running are no longer an option.

All along Kate’s mind and heart are consumed with Reed, but she fights to push her feelings and desires to the side. Despite the obvious pull and connection she has with Reed she finds it difficult to let him in… and trust in herself. However, Reed’s perseverance and patience never wavers and eventually he uses the one thing that had always brought them together… tennis.

As Reed and Kate begin to embark on a new relationship they face the past and the present head on. Along the way, new challenges and emotions arise testing the direction of their future together.

Can Kate forgive herself and trust Reed in order to latch onto the one emotion she needs most… love?

Melissa Rolka grew up in the Chicagoland area all of her childhood and has always had a love of writing. She started by keeping a journal at a young age and then in high school she started writing poetry. A couple poems were published anonymously. Then in college she majored in Philosophy, which required lots and lots of writing. After graduating from Marquette University she traveled west to Los Angeles. There she worked for the Writers Guild of America and found herself submerged in the writers world. She worked on small writings, but never pursued them. On the side she became involved with a small theater group. Eventually she made her way back to the Midwest, where her heart belongs, and worked in business for several years. She found love, got married and has two beautiful children. Being at home has allowed her to keep following her love of reading and writing.

The Perfect Distraction is her first full length novel. A second continuation of this story is in the works with hopes for a third. When Melissa is not writing she is caring for, playing with and loving her two kids. In between taking care of her family and writing she almost always has her nose buried in her Kindle.

I was giving An ARC of this book for an honest Review so here goes......

Ugh,were to start! I have waited for this book for MONTHS! The way book one The Perfect Distraction Ended killed me. Knowing that Kate and Reed were both heart broken left me heart broken lol. But she ran from him because after what happened with Kyle she needed to work threw some things in her own time. She needed to work threw the taught's that she has used Reed. Well in her head she thinks that anyway. And NOW I have to wait for a book three. I'm pretty sure Melissa is trying to Kill me or punish me for something LOL.

So ANYWAYS this book takes up just as she is starting back college after her winter break away from school. She hasn't seen Reed and just can't bring herself to talk to him. It hurts to much to even talk about. BUT Reed doesn't wanna give up that easy. He tried to move on when she first left and couldn't get pass kissing a girl without shoving her away because she wasn't Kate.

So He wants to get back into Kates heart slowly. And there is one sure fire why to do that.....Tennis.......

It is after all what got them to were they were before the Kyle drama. So he starts off by leaving her a box of tennis balls and asking to meet up at the court.... Just to play no talking needed. AND it just happens to be just what she needed because Kate sucks it up and agrees!

So they start fresh. Playing tennis and getting back in to there Saturday mornings together. He won't push her. But one Saturday she floors him,she starts talking

"Salty or Sweet?"

Something so simple starts the ball rolling again. She starts back the game the used to play! And Reed couldn't be happier.

Thats going good for them But Reed wants so much more. He wants to claim her as his. And it doesn't help thats Andy is sniffing around her. But what Reed doesn't know is that Kyle is also sniffing around. He is not wanting to let go of poor Kate. Constant Emails that she refuses to read keep coming. And somehow she has no idea how he gets her Phone number and the texts are added. Plea's to talk to him and forgive him. YEAH RIGHT! Jog on buddy!!!!

But Reeds waiting finally pays off though. And soon enough he is able to break down Kate's walls. But *sigh* nothing is plan sailing is it? Because not only is Kyle like a dog after a bone BUT Reed has his own Clingy ex now willing to take a hint, actually he has more then one. And with Kate's track record of running when things get tough he is terrified of loosing her. Add Reeds over bearing, ass of a father to the mix and you can see nothing is gonna be easy.

BUT If you loved Kate and Reed in book one then you will fall in love all over again with them in this book. And yeah your urge to kick Kyles ass will be there all over again. But now you will wanna kick more then his ass LOL. I Cannot wait for Book three! AND I cannot believe Melissa is making me wait all over again! She is lucky I loved her books so much So I'll go easy on her ;)

I received this book from the author to beta read and review honestly.

Ok so first of all….SQUEEEEEEEEEE I loved beta reading this book. I was abso destroyed at the end of book 1 so getting to read book 2 while Melissa was editing made me the happiest girl EVER. So before I begin I think I need to go back to the first book to talk about it…ya know go back in order to go forward kinda thing….. Ok so Book 1 ends and I am a total Kate HATER!! I mean who does what she did? How can you do what she did? I just didn’t get how she could be so selfish to Reed after what they went through and shared….remember vulnerable Reed who was hoping she would notice him???? Ok so fast forward to this book and I GET IT!! Do I agree with Kate at times, No BUT I get it!! Everyone wants her to file a restraining order but Kate wants to move forward and just heal so she won’t get one. I GET IT!!

We see the damaged and broken Kate in book 1. WE think it is just from the constant abuse at the hands of her DB EX-Kyle. We never really see how much her mother’s abandonment did to her. It did A LOT to her for sure. We see how this causes her to have major trust issues plus top that with the way she allowed Kyle to treat her and she is a hot mess. I was so proud to see Kate in therapy dealing with everything from the abandonment to the “incident” with Kyle from book 1.

So starting book 2, Reed is a mess. He doesn’t know what happened or what he did? Did he handle the break up very well? No Man whore Reed tries to go back to his man whore ways but Kate has made him want MORE…sigh…..cuz that is a huge phrase this book. Reed finally stalks Kate in the beginning of the book and tried to force her to talk. It backfires but he will not give up. She is it for him. So Reed goes to tennis to mend their relationship and it works. He is very patient and waits for Kate to come to him. He knows Kate better then she knows herself. Reed wins her and they do the best thing…they TALK!!! They build a trusting relationship. Kate begins to confront issues instead of running from them. The relationship is going so strong and you can see them gaining strength and TRUST with each other. I think the trust building was written very well and very believable. Do they have hiccups? Yes but they are committed to making this work.

Now as Kate is growing more and more confident we begin to see chinks in Reeds façade. We begin to see the hell of a family life he has. We see how unhappy he is and how he really and truly is taken with Kate. He goes so far as to say he is wrapped around her finger…which is so true. We also meet his ex…the chick from the picture frame in his room….JESSICA *Growl*. If you thought Reese was a pain in the butt (and yes she is still trying to get with Reed) just wait til you meet this charmer!! Well Reed does everything he can to try and protect HIS girl from Kyle. He even is hiding a huge secret from Kate which Jessica makes sure to spill…Did I mention I really hate her??

Ok Kyle…the elephant in the room. I really did not like him after what he did in book 1. I mean who could right? So when he is stalking, calling, pestering Kate I was like “Dude!! It is over. Pathetic much?” Then when he and Kate cross paths I actually felt bad for him…GASP!! YES I FELT BAD!!! He seems really SAD about everything. I mean he seems legit and broken. I kinda felt harsh for my hating vibe and thought ‘everyone deserves a 2nd chance right”…not with Kate but a 2nds chance at love with someone…..Well I got played hardcore people and when you read it you will understand what I am talking about. Then again he confronts Kate and WOW WAS I PISSED AT MYSELF!! I MEAN DB!!! JACKASS!!! M#*%#$ F@$&!&!!!! Do you get the feeling Kyle is back to really cause drama?????

The end of this book…cliffy? Yes but not near as traumatic as book 1 but yes a minor cliffy but still a cliffy. The epilogue is told in Jessica’s POV and I loved it. I loved seeing things through her eyes and it defo prepares me for the trouble she will be in book 3. Maybe we should give Kyle her number and they can date????
INTERVIEW with Reed and Kate:

**walks into the gym and looks around. Twinsie Angie sees Kate and Reed bantering at the tennis courts. She strolls over to hear the end of their “Which” Game*

Angie: You two crack me up!! Do you ever NOT have a question to ask?

Kate: I guess not… it’s how I get Reed to open up and tell me things (giggling like a school girl). (Reed grabs her around the waist from behind chuckling and shaking his head.)

Reed: Angie, come on, you know the truth. I’m an open book, it’s this beautiful girl I have to pry information out of. The best way for me to get it from her is to distract her with games… tennis being the best one, don’t you agree (smirking, blue eyes shining brightly).

Angie: *GASP’s a smidge AND gets weak in the knees over his smirk*

Angie: Ok so *thumbs over my shoulder and the laptop following behind me* SOOOOO some of my blog peps may not have gotten a chance to read the newest book of the series…soooo can we try and keep this “spoiler free” for them? GREAT!! So are you ready for my questions? I will ask a few single questions and then move into the lighting round where either or both of you can answer. Here we go…….Reed, your girl puts ALL of us into a downward spiral at the end of the first book. Do you still carry THAT note???

Reed: (face becoming serious and a little saddened, running a hand through his hair as he takes in a deep breath) No, I got rid of that note as soon as I got my beautiful girl back in my arms. We’ve moved so far from that and I don’t want any reminders. I only held onto it to remind me why I needed to fight to get her back. (Kate, shifts in her seat, licking her lips, looking downward and then reaches over to grab onto Reed’s pinky finger, they smile at each other.)

Angie: *Instantly feels bad for asking that question AND this one but smiles at how they have moved forward* Ok Kate so do you regret not talking to Reed before you left???

Kate: (Nibbling on the bottom corner of her lip, Reed moves his hand up to her face using his thumb to pull her lip free, Kate gives a tight lipped smile.) I’m not sure if regret is the right word because that time allowed me to heal, grow and become stronger. I’m a better me now for taking that time to focus on myself and in return I finally feel like I do deserve Reed.

Angie: Reed, what is the BEST part about how things have worked out NOW for the two of you?

Reed: (Reed winks at Angie with a sexy smile, Kate smacks him on his upper arm giggling.) Well, isn’t it obvious Angie. (Kate’s cheeks flush a soft red as her eyes about pop out.) Sorry baby, but I can’t lie… the sex. But its because it’s with Kate and everything means so much more now. Also, her confidence.

Angie: *Blushes at Reed’s comment* Kate, all of us readers think you are one lucky girl….come on he has got to have one FLAW!! Leaves the toilet seat up? Doesn’t pick up socks? Come on one thing??? *snickers and looks at Reed* sorry but us girls think you are PERFECTION so we need to know you are just like our husbands/boyfriends!!

Kate: Oh wow, ok, let me think here. (Reed sits forward resting his elbows on his knees looking at Kate wondering what she’ll possibly have to say.) It’s tough because I’m sure I don’t get to see every side of him since we don’t live together, but it drives me nuts when he puts on his gym shoes without socks, ewww! (Reed chuckles as if he’s heard this before).

Angie: Reed, Jessica *growls* seriously, what are we gonna do with her????? Do you think maybe her and Kyle would be a good match?? *inserts an evil laugh*

Reed: Yeah, I know, I know …Jessica, talk about a problem. It’s a tough situation with her, but in all seriousness no I do not think Kyle would be a good match for her. I don’t wish Kyle with anyone, even Jessica. Jessica to me is harmless. Katherine, has nothing to worry about. Now Kyle is another story. I don’t think we completely know the lengths he’ll go to or the full magnitude of his rage. (Kate leans into Reed, happy with his response, leans up and presses a sweet chaste kiss to his cheek.)

Angie: Kate, since we asked about Reeds Ex we gotta know about Kyle……how are you holding up with everything Jessica “let slip” at the graduation party? You seemed pretty un-phased by her conversation. Did Reed tell you about it before the party?? Or was that an after party convo?

Kate: Oh, I’m doing fine. Of course, you know, I was shocked, but I couldn’t let her rattle me. I knew nothing about it and was genuinely taken aback by the information. You are right though that conversation does happen, but you won’t get to hear about it until Book Three.

Angie: Lighting Round Time….ready here goes……

Favorite color the other wears?

Reed: Black … (snickering) with lace (winks and smiles).

Kate: Blue, it brings out his eyes even more. So I guess you can count jeans with no shirt (shyly smiles and cheeks redden again).

Favorite thing to do for the other?

Kate: Shoulder and back massage. Really its not a bad deal (smiling devilishly at Reed).

Reed: Anything that involves touching Kate is my favorite thing to do for her (laughing deeply, Kate smacks him again). Okay, okay… I love surprising her when she least expects it.

Kate: Well, he does a good job at both things. I’m a lucky girl.

Favorite date?

Kate: My favorite is when he cooks for me.

Reed: Mine is when I take her to my condo and we have privacy.

Angie: Ok you two, I loved talking to you and am super ready for book three *looks at the computer Screen for Melissa Rolka and winks to her*. I appreciate you taking the time outta your love feast to talk to me about your relationship. The Twinsie Girls are GIANT FANS *whispers under my breath—especially to you Reed*…Thanks again!! Laters!!

The Perfect Emotion starts off a few months after The Perfect Distraction finished with Kate aka Katherine trying to get back into discovering a normal college life after a relationship , a toxic one nearly killed her mentally and emotionally as Kyle was a domineering personality. as Kate tried to move on with her life, she also had to leave behind a guy she used but also fell in love with Reed. Now months later, Kate has returned to college and Reed is there too and it is discovered that Reed hasn't stopped loving Kate and though he knows he was used , he can understand why he was chosen as her escape from the pain she was feeling. Can Reed in The Perfect Emotion finally help Kate to re-open herself back up and show her that she is strong enough to overcome anything and that no matter what she thinks of herself - she has an amazing and strong group of supportive friends to help her move past Kyle. What will happen though when Kate heads home for break and she runs into Kyle ? Will the past stir up horrible memories or has Kyle changed for the better ?

In the end though , it does come down to who will Kate choose - Kyle - her past or Reed - her present and the one who has stood by her through this time ?

Melissa Rolka has done it again, Reed Harper does not disappoint! His usual sweetness toward Kate is back, but this time we also get to hear him sweet talk her in the bedroom. OMG…HOT! If you thought you loved him in The Perfect Distraction, you’ll be dropping to your knees begging him to ditch Kate and be yours in The Perfect Emotion! Except for one major hiccup, you’ll probably fall more in love with Kate in this book. You’ll start viewing her as friend and no one does that to a friend. Yep, Kate starts coming into her own in book 2. Not running away from her problems, but rather facing them straight on making her a much more likeable character, at least in my opinion.

Besides Kate and Reed, you get your fill of the rest of the gang. Maggie, Derek, Quinn are still Kate’s biggest support system, along with the emergence of a few other new and characters that aren’t so friendly. Trouble? Maybe, but I’m not saying! Pick up your copy now and find out can Kate and Reed persevere through their pasts and hold on long enough to find the unyielding love between them?

This second book was even better then the first. I can't wait to start the third one!!
Jessica has decided she wants Reed back. He isn't interested in her at all. He only has eyes for Kate. Reed risks a lot when he goes after Kate's ex-boyfriend Kyle. Will this act make his life miserable? Will he lose Kate? Read it to find out...

Mmmmm hmmmm this was good. Really good. And so much better than the first book.
Reed. Wow. He was sensitive when he needed to be. Smoking hot when his control wavered. Heroic. Gentle. Loving. Perfect. Yeah, he is perfect in every way.

"I care about you so damn much. You do something to me that has never happened before."

I'm going to start off with I loved this book better then the 1st one!! There was a few reasons why. One of the main reasons was because we FINALLY got Reed's POV. I loved getting his point of view on what was going on. I also loved how Kate's backbone FINALLY grew. She was learning to not do something just to make someone else happy. Kate stood up to people and also stood up for herself. Which I really loved seeing.

We start off right where we left off. Kate is back at school. She's trying to figure out all her feelings about the attack with Kyle. How she is handling her mom coming back. Kate's trying to deal with those feelings towards her. Trying to figure out how she's supposed to forgive her & move on.But, what she is fighting with the most. Not that it should be a shock to you. Reed.. Everything goes back to him. Kate hates the way she used him all of last semester. Hates how she left him. Hates how he's in her dreams, her mind, her heart. Reed is everywhere.

"I don't want to run, especially from you. My past makes things difficult for us and I hate that, but please know that I am trying... I want you."

Reed on the other hand is full of emotions he's never experienced before. He keeps her letter on him at all times. The letter is actually fading because he's read it so many times. Reed knows Kate's back back. But, is trying to give her the space she needs. Even though it's killing him not to have her in his arms. He tried moving on. But, that never happened.

Kate has been staying focused. She goes to school, the library, going to see her therapist, deleting the emails Kyle sends. Yes, that bastard just WILL NOT go away!! But, Kate is finally standing her ground when it comes to Kyle. Which I am so happy about. The one thing she's not doing. Going to the gym to play tennis. She can't see him at the moment.

"You make me crazy for you, Katherine. Only you. There is no one else like you and I don't think there ever will be."

After a couple failed attempts to get Kate to talk to him. Reed has figured it out. TENNIS !!! Kate gets a note to come to the courts on Saturday to play. And, that they don't have to say a word to each other. That starts it back up between them. I love when they play tennis. They eventually start all over again from start. Just like in 'The Perfect Distraction' they start the 'this or that' game.

After awhile Reed gets Kate to talk to him. After he tells her he doesn't care that she used him. Reed tells her she is IT for him. Kate goes with her heart & just when you think they'll get their happily ever after. Think again!!!

"You, my beautiful girl, have me wrapped around your finger."

While on break Kate goes back home. Kate has to deal with her feelings with her mom. Kate has to deal with the shift in her house. She's also dealing with Kyle and even Kyle's friends. This poor girl can really not catch 1 damn break!!!

Reed is at his dad's house working at his law firm. These parts I really liked. Because, in 'The Perfect Distraction' we didn't get too much info on Reed & his family. Or much of anything. Now we are FINALLY learning about Reed. We meet Jessica. I hate her just as much as I Kyle. This girl just doesn't get that they are over. I really think Jessica & Kyle would be perfect together. Jessica isn't going anywhere because her dad & Reed's father are in business together.

"Me leaving you is not an option... it will never be an option. I';m in too deep with you. You are my more"

Reed & Kate do a good job at starting over. Going slow & really getting to know each other. Which was good to see. They learn to open up. It's good for themselves to finally learn to open up. They both grow up in their own ways. Kate I love!! She still has the same awesome group of friends as before. They're there for her when she needs it. All of them really look out for each other.

But, of course that's not it. It can NEVER be that easy. Both Reed & Kate have a lot of issues they are dealing with. Kate needs to learn to trust & realize that not everyone she loves are going to hurt her. Or just leave her. Reed has a crap load of issues as well. Which I'm not giving away. But, I love that he never lies to Kate. He ALWAYS tells her the truth. No matter what!!

"Away from me though. You left to get away from me. I hate that. I hate that I upset you and then you turned away from me."

You def will not be disappointed!!! Melissa will definitely leave you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think you know what's going on. Think again!!! There are more obstacles & more people trying to get in the way of Reed & Kate. I could not put this book down. Then, Melissa gave us another cliffhanger. Now, I'm dying to know what's next for Kate & Reed. Excellent job Melissa!!!

“Reed, Reed, Reed.” Oh Kate, you lucky biatch.

Kate is back at school after leaving last semester early to deal with the emotional fallout from Kyle’s attack and her mother’s absence. She left Reed with only a note and now she’s dealing with the guilt from the way she used him to distract herself from her problems. Reed justs wants her back, but he’s willing to wait until she’s ready. He knows she is pain and he wants nothing more than to help her. Problems are still looming in Kate’s life and now Reed’s got a set of his own issues. First, Kate needs to forgive herself. Next, she needs to open her fragile heart to more possibilities with Reed.

I wanted to beat some sense into Kate for the first part of the story, but luckily she comes around to being in a relationship with Reed. These two can’t keep their hands off each other and it makes for a very entertaining read.

“I start to pull at his shirt to un-tuck it, but his hands come around and lock around my wrists restraining me from pulling anymore. I whine into his mouth.
“Why?” I mumble against the softness of his lips and smile.
“This is the first time I’m in your house and I just met you parents...maybe the second time,” he jokes and then nibbles on my bottom lip.
“Grrrrr,” I grumble into his mouth. “You are always being too good.” His eyes narrow at me and he let’s out a rough chuckle.
“Katherine, I think you know that’s not true and I’ll show you just how bad I am when we are back at school.””

Somehow, the second book in THE PERFECT series topped the first one. And by “somehow”, I mean the addition of lots of mind-blowing sex. (That’s not the only reason, but it certainly helped.) THE PERFECT DISTRACTION was amazing, but in THE PERFECT EMOTION there is just so much more of Kate and Reed’s relationship. We also have Reed’s POV in this book as well and getting into Reed’s head is as good as it sounds. I still enjoyed reading about the friendships and all the secondary characters and now we even have a ton of information about Reed’s life. Their relationship is more complicated now that Reed’s family is introduced and Kate’s problems are far from gone. There are many ups and downs and I was thoroughly entertained the entire time.

Once again, Melissa Rolka has earned my gratitude for writing an amazing story. THE PERFECT EMOTION is the perfect new adult romance novel. This series is at the top of my favorites list and now I will wait impatiently for the third book in the series. Seriously, please hurry Melissa!

Reed Harper can distract me and overwhelm me with emotions any time! Man, he is one fantastic book boyfriend. Mr. Blue Eyes is back in The Perfect Emotion, and this time, he’s not letting anyone get in the way of who he wants – not even Kate herself.

Book 2 in the Perfect series begins soon after The Perfect Distraction ended. Kate went home to heal and learn how to cope with the stressors in her life – namely her mother and Kyle. She understands that burying the issues, distracting herself from thinking about them, and running away are not healthy choices, but putting that newfound knowledge in to practice is easier said than done. And then, there’s Reed…Kate’s ashamed of how she used him and doesn’t know if she can face him. She’s not ready to talk about her issues or let her walls down because she’s afraid of being hurt and left by another person she cares about; if it was up to her, she’d avoid Reed at all cost, so it’s a good thing that Reed is done letting Kate push him away. He wants “more” with Kate, and he’s going to do everything in his power to show her that she’s safe with him…that she can share her thoughts and feelings with him…that he won’t leave her.

Kate and Reed feel “more” for each other than they’ve ever felt for anyone else, but both have a past that won’t stay buried. Can Kate and Reed fight against the obstacles they face in terms of stalker exes and family pressure, or will their love give way to other more disastrous emotions? Readers will have to wait for Book 3 to find out the answer to those questions.

The Perfect Emotion is a fantastic read. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Kate grow as a person. I had a hard time with her in Book 1….dont get me wrong, I felt for her…I did. I just couldn’t understand why she allowed Kyle to treat her the way he did without having to face any repercussions. Her insecurities about being left behind make sense but I just wanted to see more fight in her, and in Book 2, that’s exactly what I got. I also loved the alternating points of view. It made the overall feel of the book better. I really didn’t understand the push and pull between Kate and Reed in The Perfect Distraction because I didn’t get to hear Reed’s side, so getting that with this text made it all make sense. I liked Reed in Book 1, but I loved him in Book 2; he’s a testament to what the right person can do for someone. And let me tell you, Melissa Rolka definitely knows how to create crazy antagonists. I loathed Kyle from the very beginning, and now Jessica is taking the spot right next to him. I can’t wait to see how everything plays out in Book 3…I sure hope I don’t have to wait too long!

I received an ARC in return for an honest review ,,, here goes ;)

The Perfect Emotion is Book2 from Melissa's perfect series ,,, it continues from where book1 left off and the story of Kate and Reed continues

This series so far is so good people ,,, I really enjoyed book 1 and I was left eagerly awaiting book 2 and now I've read book 2 I'm chomping at the fingers in hopes that the next book will be on my kindle and read real soon ,,, women can definitely multi task I was reading whilst cooking dinner ,,, I really struggled to put this book down

Kate has an emotional roller coaster this past year more so recently with the attack from Kyle and the return of her mother ,,, she seeks help through therapy and returns to school ,,, fighting some demons and not wanting to see Reed she knuckles down and works hard at school

Reed is ,,,, well Reed is Reed ,,, he clearly loves Kate and although for a while he attempted to get rid of her from his head and heart it never worked so set out to get his girl back ,,, he knew Kate well ,,, knew he couldn't push her too hard or too fast ,,, but she wasn't budging ,,, not even a little and he just couldn't get close enough to effect her ,,, then came the thought that he knew was his best chance ,,, that was to start again from where it all began ,,, if he could get her on to the tennis court he had a chance to break through ,,, and so he did ,,,

Kate slowly began to unravel and reveal things to Reed over time,,, they began to work together and build on their relationship ,,,

But life's never that simple ,,,so let's throw in a couple of ex's ,,, then comes some drama to boot ,,,, so we have more Kyle ,,, man does this guy get on my tits ,,, I'd love to jump into the fictional world and give him a good old beat down ass whooping ,,, followed by the girl that gives it up to anyone and everyone in hopes to make Reed jealous ,,, which clearly isn't going to work ,,, and we have another ex from Reeds past that also wants to be in his future ,,,why she thinks this is possible is beyond me ,,, they had their time and it didn't work so where does she think this could possibly go? ,,,but don't be fooled this girl is not about to give up so easily ,,,,come on people you've met Reed who wouldn't go out of their way to win him back

These two are clearly meant for each other but life has a nasty way of interfering :( ,,, can they break through all of the bull and drama and find their way through ,,,, TOGETHER ,,,

Once again Melissa has done a great job with this book ,,, I highly recommend it to all :)

The Perfect Emotion was a fantastic, romantic follow-up to The Perfect Distraction. In this book, Kate is back at school and is attempting to return to the normal life she had before the thing that happened in the last book happened. She's such a strong girl. Sure, she was a bit skittish and scared of getting hurt again, but that's to be expected after what happened.

Reed is nothing short of amazing. I adored him in the first book, but that's nothing compared to how I felt about him in this one. Sexy, sweet, supportive, protective, funny, intelligent; he's the total package. I loved how he was able to push Kate, without really pushing her. He's just a beautiful character all the way around.

Reed and Kate (ahem, Katherine... I LOVE that he calls her this) spend a good part of this book trying to get back to each other. They're rebuilding their relationship and I found that relationship to be the payoff for some pretty rough events during The Perfect Distraction. They are wonderful together. They share a ton of chemistry and a lot of sexual tension... and when they get together? Steamy. I'm just concerned about the secrets they're keeping from each other. I don't want them to further damage their relationship.

Side characters play a major role in this book, again. Kyle is one creepy guy. I fear we haven't heard the last of him. Reed's ex, Jess, is super creepy too. I don't trust either one of them. Perhaps in the third book they will find each other, realize they're a match made in... someplace evil, manipulative and dangerous... and leave Kate and Reed alone? Yeah, probably not, but a girl can hope.

The Perfect Emotion was a roller coaster ride, but not quite as much of one as the first book in the series was. Things were going so well for Kate and Reed that I spent a good portion of the book totally on edge waiting for the next shoe to drop. Thankfully, I was worried for nothing. Thank you, Melissa, for not falling into any of the stereotypical NA storylines that would have taken a sweet and sexy book about healing and moving on and filled me with angst instead. I won't say the ending has a cliffhanger, but there's a bit of a "WTF?" moment that will keep me guessing until the next book is released.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Better Than The First
Please don’t read this review if you have not read the first book-as it may contain spoilers. In the second installment of The Perfect Series we are back with Kate and Reed, navigating the choppy waters of their relationship. When we left them, Kate needed some time to find herself and Reed was going stir crazy without her.
Kate is doing exactly what she said she was going to do, work on a different way to deal with her issues instead of running away from them. She takes the semester off and starts to talk to somebody about what is going on in her life, including her mother. I like that Kate was taking the initiative to be a better person and deal with her problems differently, however I still didn’t find myself connecting with her. She comes off immature about some of the situations, and more that once she worried about what Reed had going on when Kyle was still trying to contact her.
Speaking of, the thorns in the sides of Kate and Reed are sill ever present. Kyle and Jessica have much bigger roles in this book, well Jessica at least, and man does that spell trouble. So while Kate and Reed are learning about this new relationship, they each have to deal with the psycho ex that just won’t let go. I think the next book should feature them getting together, sounds like they are made for each other.
There is a lot going on this time around and I liked it. Kate’s mom is back and we find out more about that situation. Reed opens up about his dad and that relationship more, as well as some action with Kate’s friend Maggie. There are little lies being held from one another between Kate and Reed, all in the name of protecting feelings, but you see that’s getting ready to blow up in their faces.
The characters changed and maybe grew up a bit for us in The Perfect Emotion and they definitely got way sexier! That Reed makes it to book boyfriend status this time around, who cares if he has some secrets. The story is constantly building and while we are given bits and pieces of what is happening, there is a cliffhanger ending to get us to come back at least one more time, which I will. It’s going to be interesting to see if Kate becomes an even stronger young woman with what lies ahead of her, and how Reed will cope with the past rearing its ugly head.

I received a signed paperback copy from the author. Thank you so much.

I was so upset the way the first book ended; I totally get why it ended the way it did, but man did it tear my heart out. I understand that Katherine needed be whole before she could offer Reed anything but it still killed me.
While at home things have changed for Katherine, her mom is now at home, she has been in counseling getting help, and began to bond with her mom. She is learning to talk through things that bother her instead of running from them. You can see this though out the book.

Reed tries to move on but realizes Katherine is who he wants and decides to go after it. He makes his move by starting to play tennis with her again no conversations at first just playing and things progress from there. I like the fact that when Reed and Kate started talking they didn’t hide things they just put it out there. You could tell that it was a struggle for Kate at times but I liked that she didn’t hold back and would explain what she felt. Made for less drama and I have a feeling there is going to be enough of that in the future they don’t need to add to it.

Kyle decides to make an appearance and then you also have Reed’s ex that comes into play too. Wow these two are a pair they need to hook up so they can torment each other and leave everyone else alone just saying. Kate handles the situation she is put in well for the time being. But I really need book three I need to know what happens next.

Here are a few of my favorites:

“There will be plenty of kissing I can assure you. You have no idea how hard it’s been not to kiss you every time I’ve seen you, especially after we play tennis.”

Walking across campus with Katherine in my arms and her hand in mine reminds me of what it felt like to be a young boy on Christmas morning. Getting everything you ever dreamed of and wanting the fulfillment to go away consumes me.

Taking a deep breath I open the door and see Reed stretched out on my bed. Well, isn’t that a welcomed sight. God, what college girl wouldn’t love Reed sprawled on their bed?

“Damn, baby. I think I’d like to hear you say I never…about everything and anything as long as I get to be the one to make it your first from here on out.”

Kate missed Reed, but was still not ready to be with him. There were a lot of issues she needed to address and conflicts that she wouldn’t dare to involve him. So, to keep her mind sane, she decided to get herself distracted at any cost, and tried to move on. But it was much harder than she thought when Kyle keeps on pestering her, and her mom was back home. She needed to face the music now.

I knew his patience and perseverance would pay off. He didn’t push, he didn’t pressure her, instead he found a way back into her heart – it was the same path in the past, but this time he was more careful with his steps. They played tennis together, just play, no small talks. Reed didn’t give up though, he was willing to wait, and finally, she cracked up, allowing him to go beyond her walls.

Love is SWEETER the Second Time Around.

I loved them together and hated them being apart. It was such a relief to see the both of them happy, at last. They were sweeter, and stronger than ever. Challenges and past relationships tries to rock their boat and shook them – but I know both of them will make it.

The old characters were back again – Maggie and the gang. It was nice to see them again, they have their own dramas and problems on the background, but when Kate or Reed needed them, they rush to help, and vice-versa.

This story is Reed and Kate’s story towards reconciliation. They were a lot of hurdles along the way, a lot of exes to fight on, and not to mention insecurities. Still, when you belong to each other, fate will just find away to fuse you back in. I loved the first book more but it didn’t mean I love this any less, I still enjoyed reading the story, and greatly looking forward for the next in the series.

Let me just say that I am in love with Reed I love everything he is and how he is with Kate. There love is amazing the kind you just pray that everything works.
Ok with that said lets see you start off the book with Kate avoiding Reed. Because of the things she is working on meaning her self. At first I was so annoyed with her but then as the chapters started going over why she was doing what she did I understood but did not like that she was hurting MY REED lol. But Reed is smart and he knows how her mind works and he will stop at nothing to get her back. She just thinks the wrong things because of the healing she is doing. Her mom and Kyle really did alot of damage. But through there struggles of finding each other again they find out that there is more. Yes more so sweet and Olive Juice. I know you might be a bit confused but not trying to do that just think you should read the book to read between the lines. And we also have the wicked dad and ex bitch which her name is Jessica. Did I tell you how much I hate this girl oh I do. But in this book you have so many supporting characters its amazing how much they love Kate and I love all of them for that. Also we see very dominate alpha male in Reed this time and wowee did I love that. But be prepared because you are gonna be wanting the next book. I would love to be Beta reader for this next book just cause lol but really its not a big cliffhanger or it wasn't for me. I read the first book and was ahhhhhhhhh no but this one I was really pleased and love Melissa Roka she is an amazing writer and this story has captivated me. Can't wait for more

I was given this book as an ARC for an honest review.
I gave this book 4 stars.
This book review was left by Lauren, a Book Worms Reviewer.
This is the second book in the The Perfect series, the continuation of Kate and Reed.

After leaving Reed at the college campus to go home, Kate is back. She's been avoiding Reed ever since she left, and Reed has been absolutely crushed by her actions. After all of the hurt Kate has put him through, he still wants to be with her and is willing to wait and be patient while she decides to come back to him.

While trying to repair her relationship with her mother, and with regrets of the way she used Reed, Kate is conflicted about what her next actions should be. When she gets a message from Reed to meet her at the courts to start playing tennis with each other again, like they used to. Kate has to decide whether she wants to start trusting again, and ask to be forgiven for the way that she used Reed, or to run from her problems like she always has.

In this great and simple novel, we not only read about a story about love, but we learn to come to terms with what we have done in the past, and to push forward and not let anyone take advantage of us because we are weak. This book is such an uplifting and memorable read.

Wow! This was a fantastic second book for the Perfect Series. I have been eagerly waiting to see how things would proceed after the end of The Perfect Distraction and I was not disappointed. There’s plenty of drama but there’s also some seriously steamy moments, some downright sweet and romantic moments, and of course lots of opportunities for the characters to grow, heal, and mature.

Reed and Kate have things to work through but Reed’s unwavering support and willingness to wait for Kate is so sweet. He one hot piece of man candy and not only does he know how to be sweet, loving, and supportive, but he’s also protective, a bit possessive, and has a little streak of bad boy at times. Kate has so much to work through in this book but I really liked seeing her learn to trust and share herself and her life. It really is a joy to read about these two as well as their friends. Everyone has a unique personality and I felt like I was right in the story with them.

This book was intense at times but also very sweet and moving at other times. The relationships all of the characters (not just the two main ones) have with one another is really enjoyable and I found this a very easy book to get through. I actually read it in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down. I really enjoyed this book and I’m vary anxious to read the next book in the series to find out what will be happening next to this wonderful couple and their great group of friends. This was a wonderful 5 out of 5 stars for me!

The Perfect Emotion picks up the story with The Prefect Distraction has ended. Which for me, was a good thing, cause I was needing this story right away. I have to be honest, I waited to read them both together. I am so glad I didn't have to wait. I am not a patient person.
Kate is trying to recover after being attacked. She has decided to put men aside and work on her. I mean, can you really blame her? She has been through more than a girl her age (or, any age really) should ever have to go through. After Kyle's attack and then her mom coming back into her life, she has a lot of different emotions. It is a lot for anyone to handle.

Poor Reed. He finally gives his heart and Kate leaves. He is not giving up on her. Reed is going to do whatever it takes to make her whole again and able to be back together. He is so sweet and caring. I have to be honest. I wasn't feeling Reed in The Perfect Distraction. I am a huge fan of him now. Tennis, anyone? Reed uses her love of tennis as a way back into her life.
Kate is finally coming into her own. I really enjoyed how she is facing her problems face on instead on running from them. She is maturing and coming an adult.
I love this series. Be warned that there is a 3rd book coming. So this one doesn't end wrapped in a bow. There is gonna be even more drama ahead for poor Kate. I can just feel it!

Kate was finding it difficult to let go of the guilt she felt by hurting Reed. After leaving school to allow herself time to heal she returned to once again face the one guy that had made her feel alive. The problem was seeing him just intensified her guilt she felt about leaving him without and explanation and using him to forget her past boyfriend.
There was one problem...
Reed refused to give up. He refused to let go of Kate because she was the girl for him.
They found their footing once again when the game of Tennis brought them back together.

The story is a continuance of The Perfect Distraction and is picks right back up where book 1 left off.

Reed and Kate do not have the perfect love story in the beginning they have all this little bumps in the road. One ting they do hold onto throughout the book is their love for one another and the connection of two people they refused to let go of the other.

I am excited to see what happens next in their story.

Now lets touch little on the demon of the story...Kyle. Oh their were a number of times I wanted to beat that kids ass myself. The boy got what he deserved.

*****I received this ARC for an honest review*****

This book picks right back up where The Perfect Distraction ended.

Buckle-up this book is an EMOTION of roller-coasters!!

What with Kate getting back on track after Kyle's attack, who can really blame her for putting off "MEN" or * coughs REED...AHHHH Reed still as charming as the first time we met him. He's not so willing to let Kate, it concocts a BRILLIANT play to get her back...TENNIS ANYONE

Kyle is still very much in the picture, and is always lurking, just on the outside..but then Melissa throws in an EX and HOLY SHIT, she may just be as psycho as Kyle. WTH..yeah and that's only the beginning..(I may have almost thrown my kindle from these scenes)and that's all the deets you'll get outta me!!!

If you LOVED Kate and Reed in book 1 then you're going to fall in love with them all over again!!

I can't wait for book 3..and **hint Melissa in a PERFECT world..the psychos meet and stalk each other.IJS...Leeave my Kate and Reed alone!!

Amazing follow-up!!!

The Perfect Emotion continues Kate and Reed´s story. Their story once again pulled me in instantly and captivated me from cover to cover.

Every girl should have a Reed for herself. Persistent, lovable and a guy who knows what is going through her mind. A guy who won´t be stopped by anything to get his girl back.

The story has a wonderful pace. It is not rushed. It just flows.

Their story once again has dramatic angst and twist and turns that keep you even more glued to it.

I just loved and enjoyed every single but of it.

This book is not the end of their story. We still have the third one which I can not wait for.

As you know I disliked Kate a lot in the first book! And as this one started I also disliked her, BUT as it went on I slowly started to ease up on her and like her! She actually tried to face her problems and become a better person! She actually faced all the problems she avoided in book 1.

Reed was still the same, although I don't really understand what he's doing for Jess! (Its in the end I ain't spilling!) Let's just say, I see that biting him in the ass straight up if he doesn't tell Kate himself! I liked how he tried and encouraged Kate to actually deal with Kyle and not brush it under the rug like before!

Overall I can't wait till book 3! ;-)
