Learning about the history and evolution of the game of chess was interesting. Chess is documented back to the 7th century and the origins of the game predate the birth of Christ. Playing the game takes on a deeper connection in the context of all those that came before.

A good overview of the history of chess. While I would have liked more information about the development of tactics of chess tactics by greats like Fischer, there's plenty on chess as a pastime from many different cultures over the years.
