This book is a comprehensive encyclopaedia of shibori techniques. Those looking for a full history of the craft should look elsewhere, for while this book has a brilliant summary of the shibori’s historical context it’s true brilliance is in the robust library of techniques it teaches. Instructions, diagrams, and archival images of both the described technique and historical pieces with combined methods bring to life the instructions. The summary at the end on current artists is now outdated but is an excellent point-in-time reference for any craft or fashion historian.
