I am just a girl trying to create rainbows in a world where my mind is held prisoner! I write a lot in order to gain perspective, purge my soul, retain my memories, and to put into words what my tears and laughter are trying to say!

Writing began as therapy. Poetry, to be specific, was a way to get an active and anxious mind to focus. Taking a feeling and describing how I felt in that moment with as few words as possible became a calming meditation.

Before I started writing, I just over analyzed everything. My mind went 100 miles an hour in 100 different directions and very few of those directions led anywhere good. Mostly, it just exhausted me, wore me out, made me emotional and kept me from sleeping. Take a girl who is anxious and deprive her of sleep for six months and depression will conquer even the strongest parts of your mind.

Many times my thoughts are complete nonsense, but the world is full of nonsense. My only hope in sharing all of my emotions is that my journey makes another person's journey less lonely, and I will find new pieces of myself along the way! I have found this the most rewarding part of public writing... a shared journey.

There is something amazing about Hasty's voice that is so strong it coerces the reader along for the entire ride. Once I opened it. . .I couldn't put it down. I couldn't stop until I finished it and then immediately set out to start her next book. The pure honesty, and the bravery to speak so boldly, is inspiring and beautiful.

I am completely in awe of Hasty and her work. I've followed her blog and have been a huge fan for sometime now. She gives insight into her world through poetry and intimate photographs. Her words are raw and her emotion is authentic. She's a rarity in today's world. I look forward to all she has to offer in the future!
