Reference book that I checked out as an ebook from my library. There are numerous references like “follow directions on page #” so using an ebook regularly would not be convenient for me. If I decide to add this book to my library, I will purchase the physical copy, which will be much easier to mark up with post-it notes.

Logical organization. Recipes are easy to scan.

Some recipe directions are easy to follow and produce quickly. Others involve more ingredients than the ten accessible herbs advertised in the title of this book, and more time to prepare. Some recipes require a few weeks of steeping.

Kind of feels like many of the recipes would have me going down the path of apprenticeship under the dog mom version of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, which would be fine if I had the time to make all of these recipes. Given that several of these recipes that require time to steep are for ailments my dogs have not experienced, I’m not inclined to invest time with making them.

The Rosemary Ear Infection Wash takes 1-2 weeks to steep, but the directions are quite straightforward. Given that my dogs’ pendulous ears are prone to ear infections, I could see me taking the time to make this remedy.

Other easier recipes like the Coat Conditioning Massage, Soothing Ear Oil, and Kelp Help for Recovery are ones I am more inclined to try since these are ones I can make as needed and use right away.

Depending on what ailments you’re trying to address with your dog, these herbal recipes may or may not work with your ability to take the time to make them. If your library has this book, I recommend checking it out first to preview.

As I continue to read more about holistic remedies, I may or may not purchase this reference book. My decision rests on how much of the information here may be duplicated in other books.

Helpful ways to care for your dog

I found a few things in this book that I could use for my pup. But some of the recipes have ingredients that I don't know where to find locally. Also to use most of what's in the book you need to plan ahead.

I thought it was interesting especially the section on how to make medicinals from plants.
