What Ails the White House: An Introduction to the Medical History of the American Presidency

Rate this book
The presidency has fascinated readers since George Washington. But less widely known is the medical history of these great men. This book is the result of years of research, with compelling stories of the injuries, illnesses and untimely deaths of our nation's leaders. The chapters explore the impact presidential health had on the president, his family, his nation - and ultimately, the world.

Fascinating look at injury and disease among US presidents. It's truly amazing how bad medicine was just 100 years ago.

This author is a doctor at our local hospital and my mother's co-worker. The book was born after Dr. Murphy gave a couple lectures about his two loves, medicine and The Presidency and turned it into the short and interesting little book.
