As a child I watched the BBC Monkey television program in England and still have a soft spot in my heart for the Monkey King. I have wanted to read the legend the show was based on for several years and picked up this copy at the library where I work. This book is very much abriged and I feel written on a child's level. Still it was enjoyable and a quick read. I am hoping to read more of the tales in the future.

This is actually a Chinese fairy tale which is a series of about 30+ books. I loved these books when I was a kid and collected all 30 of them and read them over and over again. They very very beautifully and elaborately illustrated and I still treasure this collection of books.

Steve used to love this book. Neat little stories, could be considered Tall Tales from China starring a vicious, brilliant, precocious fighting monkey
