I enjoyed this book. The author does a good job of presenting many things about the Italian culture that might lead to increased longevity. I say “might” because no one is randomly assigned to live an Italian lifestyle or placed in a control group when they’re born. By necessity, a book like this will always have its limitation. That being said, the author did a good job with what data is there. I’m from the states and already have incorporated parts of this book into my life. That is, I was already doing them before I read this book. For example, I already focus on eating healthy fats and not overdoing it on the carbs. I walk every day. But these things have research to support them outside of the Italian culture. What I would propose doing with the book is reading the book and then further investigating some of the ideas and maybe trying them out in your life. Overall, it’s a pretty good start if you’re looking for ways to be healthier.
