Picked this up at a used-bookstore on St. Simon's Island in Georgia, so it was very topical (the author is from the neighboring town of Brunswick). I thought it was really good for what it is -- a collection of essays by a small-town author (I think they originally appeared as columns in the local paper). Some were nice reminiscences of her childhood, others anecdotes about the perils of the home-remodeling project that she and her husband were engaged in, and one really funny intro to football for reluctant wives on Super Bowl Sunday. I sort of skimmed through this and am planning to read again more slowly when I have a chance -- but a very comforting, interesting book, not quite as good as, but in the vein of, Mrs. Miniver and other daily-life-journal-type books.
