4.5 ⭐️ Godamnnnnn talk bout bein in the wrong place at the fuckin wrong time😭 MANNNN the trigger warning itself in this book was a pure perfection😭😭 Y’all make sure to check the TW tho
This is one where you definitely want to pay attention to the trigger warnings.
A Crack in the Foundation is a story about obsession and betrayal. It is short, gruesome, and definitely does what the author intended. I liked the setup of the story; the way the narrator is involved is clever and so are some of the other elements. I was annoyed a bit at the typos, especially the misspelling of one of the character's names. I also kept wondering how exactly some of the stuff happening would actually work. It didn't seem totally plausible given the materials being used. That pulled me from the story a few times. That aside, I still felt it was an enjoyable story. I mean, as enjoyable as extreme horror can be.
So there you are, some sheisty pan-handler. Just living your okay-est life, when you are gobsmacked by a beautiful woman with an intoxicating scent. You become instantly enamored and follow her home, needing more than what is morally & legally right. You need to invade her space and smell her again.
That’s when this super-fucked up tale of you-never-know-what’s-going-on-behind-closed-doors tale goes in a completely different bloody & depraved direction. We get a couple wtf moments sprinkled throughout the opening but once the intensity amps up, it’s like a bag of hammers dropped on us with NAILS to match. Not for the weak stomached, this one will have you looking at your neighbors a lot differently afterwards. 👀
WTF did I just read and more so why did I like it??
This novella will definitely leave you SHOCKED. I can’t stress this enough to check the trigger warnings before attempting to read this. If you read, It’s Me, Charlie?? Then you will get an idea of the depravity you’re in for with this one.
This is about Slick.. a non-homeless, panhandler who comes across this woman, Shelli.. he’s infatuated with her sent and decides to follow her. After following her, he breaks into her home and a scene takes place that will make anyone think twice about using mouthwash. When Slick finds himself stuck in the basement closet after almost being caught, he witnesses an outrageous violent, vile scene.
Omg this book was CRAZY!! But in C.M. Guidroz fashion, she pulls it off and then some!! It’s disturbing, gross at times, but utterly addicting!! Absolutely loved it and I love her writing style!! Super short, super fun read!!
This one I definitely recommend reading the content/trigger warnings. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
II did not want to put this book down at all! This book makes you feel like you are in the book as the main character witnessing as he is! Slick the main character seems to have shitty luck and has a tough life. While panhandling he comes across a woman who smells divine from there he becomes obsessed with her smell as If It his drug of choice. Little does he know what chasing this “high” has In store for him.
I can’t believe I didn’t read this when I got it. It’s a must read for me!
Omg, this book!!!! 🙌🏼 I didn’t expect any of it! 🫣😱
Slick is a dirty little stalker, he breaks into his most recent obsessions house only for them to come home early forcing him to hide in a closet down in the basement…what he witnesses whilst in there though is far more worse than him getting caught 😨
61 pages of absolute carnage perfection, wow the guy was more than unhinged, he’d put Bateman to shame!! 😳
I absolutely loved it!! 4🌟 CHECK YOUR TRIGGERS this one is violent & gorey, and at times it makes you feel a little bit queasy 🤏🏼🤢
Left field is where I like to be all the time, so this way, when things are coming out of left field, they are leaving. When you vocally say, 'Oh no, is what I am thinking gonna happen, gonna happen? Yup, yup, so that happened.' Or, 'Nope, didn't see that coming,' you know the book is good. It is short, twisted, and to the point. If you love splatter or extreme horror, this is for you. I loved this.
I have to say I was absolutely nauseated reading this. It's a short gore fest for sure! But holy crap was it well written. My emotions could not keep up! The fucking mouthwash, the nail gun and God no the fucking hot sauce! So messed up.
Not for the faint hearted but I love this author's work!

Listen, I needed something quick and disturbed and Christ did CM deliver. I thought it couldn’t get worse until it did. Again, and again, and again. In the best most fkd up ways possible. Did I finish it with one eye closed because of the levels of disturbed I felt? Yes. And that’s EXACTLY what I wanted
That was insane. Wasn't as intense as I expected. Still very gory, but It would've gotten 5 stars if it had a bit more tension and build up, but that's a personal preference. Definitely check your trigger warnings before reading. Will be checking out more of this authors books.
“Following her won't hurt anyone; I mean, sure, it's considered stalking to some people, but it's all about perspective.”
“Love is not always a good thing. It can feel really good when it's good, but when it's bad, well, it can kill you.”
This novella is BRUTAL in the most horrific and psychotic ways you could ever imagine. It almost felt like a splatterpunk version of a Grim’s Fairytale, you know like an extremely graphic cautionary tale about revenge and instant karma. When it comes to graphic this one though by far takes the cake, or rather the hot sauce. It also seriously has me doing double takes of every bottle of mouthwash now because ick.
4.75 this was a really sick novella it definitely made me feel uncomfortable but I just couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting if u want to read something that makes you feel uncomfortable or u want to be shocked read this but be warned please read trigger warnings
This f***ked, can we curse on reviews here? A crack in the foundation is a wild story and for those wanting to go HOP ON! I don’t know what to say but bless CM’s writing
I did not see the turn of events and how this book changed. If you love dark books this is definitely a book for you. I could not put it down! 10/10 highly recommend!!
Ahhaha this was short intense and insane. I loved it. Literally would not be able to predict what came next even if I tried. Definitely sick and twisted
This one really took me by surprise. The title of the book holds more meaning than originally thought! What a wild ride wrapped up in a bite size read, really enjoyed this
In true C.M. fashion, this left me feeling absolutely disgusted by the ending. It was like It's Me, Charlie all over again. I hope to see more like this from her in the future because she never seems to leave me disappointed.
Obsession/Betrayal A panhandler becomes obsessed with the scent of a woman that he sees. He proceeds to stalk her working up the courage to break in her house, then the story takes one hell of a turn! This is insanely disturbing and sooo good!
