Three prolific Urban Christian authors have teamed up in this anthology that proves revenge isn’t always so sweet. Musik Jalice Carter is in love. The only problem is that she doesn’t believe the man is in love with her. What makes it even worse is that the man is her husband. Musik really starts to doubt his love for her when she uncovers secrets on his social networking page. Having given that man 15 years of her life, Musik is not going to walk away without getting answers, and more importantly, without getting revenge. Sabrina Rogers is devastated when she finds out that the man of her dreams has another woman. She’s mortified when she discovers it’s her mother! At odds for years, mother and daughter finally settle their differences to join forces against Blake Harrison. Revenge never tasted so sweet as they team up to put this player out of commission for good. But after the dirty deed is done, will forgiveness and faith be enough to keep their relationship together? Where do broken hearts go? If you’re Tamera Watson, you go to the pawn shop to buy a gun. Tamera’s husband is gone and so is her life savings. With the last of her pennies, she pays a private detective to hunt him down—so she can gun him down. When she finds him, will she be able to pull the trigger, or will the God of her heart stop her before she lets her desire for revenge take her too far?
A Woman's Revenge is a collection of three confronting short stories, that's not short on ideas or characters. It's an effective display of why "we are to follow the Lord Jesus' command to "Love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us" (Matthew 5:44), leaving the vengeance to God."
Tiffany Warren opens the curtain with a "Slim Chance" as Nadine Robinson leaves her Georgia condo in the hands of her sister for 365 days to pursue a life altering decision; gastric bypass surgery things aren't what they use to be. Her decision to leave town without communicating her intentions to her loved ones quickly prove to be the wrong answer. Upon her return to town and her old life she receives no support from her mom or dad regarding her decision and the love of her life is engage to her best friend. In Nadine's mind if she dropped much of her 300lbs Jamel would marry her. Like Nadine we believe God can do a mighty thing but we don't believe He will.
Exits Nadine and enters Sabrina Rogers, who treats her relationship with God like a bath. Which she only engage in when she's dirty or sore. Fortunately for Sabrina His grace is sufficient and His word is never returned void, God continues to offer new mercies every day. "The Sweet Taste of Revenge" is a story of young love. As an assistant; in more ways than one to Blake Harrison who's in the running to becoming partner in the firm where he works Sabrina dreams of her life as Mrs Blake Harrison. Estranged from family and friends her relationship with Blake takes a turn she never expects and with no one close to talk to, Sabrina reminiscence on times spent with her good friend Janine. In full revenge mode Sabrina begins to feel bad for Blake and starts to think the 10 steps to revenge plan.
Exits Sabrina and enters Tamera Watson, in "A Piece of Revenge" I had to ask myself what's a wife to do when her husband connive her out of not only her money but grant funding which was to be used towards her dream. Do you get even or go get your money? Tamera decides to go get her money and along the way she meets Kemuel Powers of Powers Investigations. She hires him to help her make sense of the mess Leon her husband has made for her. Once the closet door is opened she doesn't have to look for the shirt her mind sends an instant message to her heart. She immediately knows he is gone along with her $180,000.
Throughout each story A Woman's Revenge never waste words and never flowering up simple ideas. The storyline flowed and the characters were strong and stayed true to who they are. Even if you usually wouldn't consider a collection of stories; this is a must read and remember longer isn't necessarily better.
This book was about three women who were done wrong by the men in their lives. It's like three small novellas, two of which were good reading but I didn't much care for the one by E. N. Joy. Read: April 2013.
First two stories are really great. They show revenge , great detail, and a sense of really being in love at the beginning. the third story by e.n. joy was not easy to get into and did not seem to go up from there. Like most of her stories this one was also lacking depth.
I enjoyed the first two stories but the last one threw me off. I didn't enjoy it at all. I just don't know why. The first two captured me from the beginning and leaves me wanting to read more from those authors.
These stories were about women that took revenge on the men that wronged them.
Scorned women seek revenge against sleezy low life cheaters in their lives in three unique tales.First tale involves a seriel cheater with intriguing subterfuge and ultra twist.Next involves a thieving con man and the third a disingenuous husband who maintains a separate life of escape on social media.
This group of stories was a mixed bag, for me. The second story was the one I liked the most, though, it was a bit heavy on the step-by-step descriptions at some points. Overall, I enjoyed that one. The last story was my least favorite and the first one was just okay.
This was a great read! So far I have read 3 books by this Author and I love her works. She tells wonderful stories of faith hope and real life issues. this was no exception!
I have to agree with most of the readers. I love me some E.N Joy. I have almost every book she has written. The first two stories Held my interest and were pretty good for short stories but the last story I felt was just doing toooo much and I just couldn’t get into it. I even tried skipping some of the pages in the story but it just kept getting worse. It definitely wasn’t one of her best stories. Even though she is still one of my favorite authors I just didn’t get this one. For all of you that didn’t like her story in this book you really gotta check out her other works you will become a fan for sure
A woman’s Revenge is a collection of three short stories, written by three different authors, that all revolved around: - Revenge - Deception - Vengeance
All three main characters were deceived and set out to seek revenge and get their lick back.
The first two stories demonstrated the loss of trust and the deep yearning for revenge but I feel the third story did not meet the mark in this area.
Overall I would have given the first two short stories a 4 Star rating but because the book will be rated as a whole I will give the overall book a 3.5 star rating because the last story just seemed so off from the others.
The three short stories in this volume deal with the ultimate betrayal, a man cheating on his woman. Each of the women is a Christian but plans for revenge in a dramatic way. Sabrina, Tamera and Musik all suffer from a broken heart but all prepare to avenge the wrong-doing In a “get even” way.
There are three well-known authors who wrote three short compelling, engaging, enthralling stories.
The first story, "Sweet Taste of Revenge" was a superb read. This is the best story that I've read by Sherri L. Lewis! It kept me on the edge of my seat, even though a headache, I ached to finish it. It was definitely unpredictable, and the outcome was not as intense as expected. The ten ways to seek revenge on the one who has hurt, betrayed, and played you, only went halfway before Sabrina said this is it. Yet this man didn't care a darn bit about her after all, as if she was his prized piece that he helped from nothing to something. When his world came tumbling down, not making partner, he was ready to end her career until mother dear stepped and showed out, including looking for the welfare of her daughter's career. But moreover, the best was saved for last, by forgetting the past and mending hearts once again through forgiveness. Glad to see mother and daughter work this out after all. 5 stars.
Now digging into the second story, "Piece of Revenge" by Rhonda McKnight. Romance or finance? This story was a cute and quick read. 3.5 stars.
Last but not least, by the woman who writes the soap opera dramas of the divine divas, E.N. Joy, entitled "Best Served Cold" and cannot wait to see how this story pans out just on the title alone. This story examines the story on who loves who, and why did they really get married: sex seems to be the ultimate reason. The man could only hold out 9 months, and she wanted to meet the need but was it really LOVE. Musik Jalice Carter knows she is in love, but he seems to fall out of love if he is on Face IT which is a social media site without listing he's married and won't add her to his profile (no pics either). Stranger in her own home and marriage. Wondered who names their daughter: Musik? Reading this story, the reader seems to be more in Musik's inner voice than seeing the story unfold before your eyes like plot/climax/characterization, etc., also pace is a bit slow for my liking, and trying to see how this will play out. I enjoyed the real meaning of the story at the very last two chapters (the end)! But you do not see any indication of REVENGE until the last paragraph or couple sentences of the last paragraph at the completion point of the short story to see how this may play out...what??? 2 stars
*After reading the first story, the best, and the second one, was good, but now wondering what has happened to the third one: lacks luster or lack of interest. I am not caught and wrapped into the story, and skipping to find the best part of the story. I usually love this author's work (E.N. Joy), or enjoy reading her diva series. After the prologue and three chapters, I hope it fulfills it's key message (or purpose) and lives up to the title served.
Overall score of all three comes to 3.5 stars. (I laugh inside, thinking the one that I expected mediocre story gave the best, the other made the mark, and one I expected the best gave the least best. However, I still congratulate all these writers to do what they do and will continue to read their works. Some books you will love, and like, and not like so much...)
Overall it was great! I totally loved it. It make me laugh and also made me realize that you can't really call someone desperate or dumb for going back into a relationship. It's just that they trully want and believe that it will work out. Anyways it was great starting my summer with this book. I totally LOVED this book. "The Sweet Taste of Revenge" was so hilarious. Mama Roxie's got it going hard there. Her steps for revenge were just so funny. I really want to know what the last five steps of her revenge were, but I guess we'll never know. "A Piece of Revenge" was full of action. I loved the action and Tamera's character, she's strong. Then there's Powers too and all that romance going on between them both. It ended so sweet. The last one "Best Served Cold" was okay. I got confused since it explained the past then came back to the present. The story wasn't as interesting but the message was huge to me. That was good enough. I liked how they both were willing to try to make it better and how she realized how hard he worked for the family.
A Woman’s Revenge…..Excellent book!!! E.N. Joy, Sherri Lewis, and Rhonda McKnight have done an excellent job with this page turner. Sabrina, Tamera, and Musik were three women that were in loved, but were hurt in the processing of being in love. There are times when a woman is hurt by her husband or boyfriend, the only way to get revenge is to go to God!!!!!
Three stories by three of my favorite authors was wonderful. I enjoyed that each story was about a different character and their tale of woe. A must read for every woman who has been done wrong. These stories will make you laugh, cry, shout, and other emotions.
The first two short stories was very good and I really enjoyed them. However, the last story was... not sure. It wasn't a bad storyline but it wasn't up to the same standard as the first two. I'm somewhat surprised because I usually enjoy reading E.N. Joy.
I think the book was just okay. I've read all of E.N. Joy's books so I might be a little biased, but I thought her story was the best out of all the other authors.
