Even the best fall down sometimes…

Ryan Fox thought he had it all: money, women, fast cars, and a stellar baseball career. He also thought he could hide the memories of his dark past behind the witty charm and the devilish smile. Truth is, he had almost everyone, including himself, fooled. But the past cannot be ignored forever and eventually it finds a way of catching up.

When it all came crashing down, one girl was there to mend the broken pieces. Evangeline Montgomery. Not only did the troubled heiress turn Ryan’s world upside down but she helped him to see what’s most important: It’s not the past that defines you.

In Slide, we heard from Evangeline. It’s now Ryan’s turn to share his story about the girl who stole his heart and changed his life forever.

3.5 Stars

Catch is book #1.5 in the Broken series by Michelle Congdon, I have been lucky enough to have been gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review so here goes....

I’ve read the other two books in the series here are links to my reviews, Book #1 Slide and book #2 All That Matters.

Catch is a Novella that shows Ryan’s side of the story in Slide.

It’s been a while since I read Slide and as I didn’t have time to do a reread it took me a while to get back into the story.

I still LOVE Ryan although we see a deeper side to him that isn’t shown in Slide; it’s so nice to see that adoration and love he feels almost immediately for Evangeline.

What I missed with this novella is the other side of the story, this was totally about Ryan which is cool but because I didn’t read straight after Slide I missed the emotional connection that Evangeline gave out too.

This is a great companion novella because after Slide I did think it would be great to understand Ryan a little more. I highly recommend that you read Slide and Catch together.

This is a cute short read but I wish I have reread Slide first 3.5 stars

This a Ryan’s point of view of the events and it is a great, quick read. One that you really should take time to digest because he is quite simply fabulous.

Ryan wants for nothing, he has everything a man in his position could possibly want, he has more money than he can spend and he is galloping his way through women and booze at a frantic pace but all that comes to a screaming halt when he meets Evie.

Being with Evie or more to the point the desire to be with Evie is alien to Ryan, she has brought out feelings in him that completely surreal to him, but moving on is no smooth ride.

Because despite all that is good in his life, Ryan has a past that he hasn’t been able to completely shake.

But fighting for what he wants is the choice he has to make, mistakes are to be learnt from but can Ryan choose wisely?

Review of Catch (Broken #1.5) by Michelle Congdon

Review done for Hooked on Books

4 out of 5 stars

Catch is Ryan’s point of view of Slide.

Ryan Fox is one of America’s favorite bad boys. Women never say no to him. That is until Evangeline Montgomery walks into his life.

She challenges him and helps him heal from his past. Honesty and support from his loved ones lets Ryan face his past. Now Ryan wants the family life he never thought he deserved.

With a beautiful woman and his mom and sisters by his side, his true dreams are starting to take shape.

I loved book one, Slide, but I found this one just missed to many of the parts that I wanted to get Ryan’s side on. I understand that the author can’t repeat the whole book, but I just found it lacked some of the key parts for me.

Overall this was still a great book and I definitely recommend both books to be read!

Man whore Ryan is living the life. He has a great high paying job, an endless supply of women every night and enough alcohol to hide from his past.
Until he meets Evie and his world crumbles. He wants her, he doesn't know why, he can't treat her like all the others. He feels something which is a first for him.
Ryan figures out what he wants, comes face to face with his past and finds a way to move on an then it all goes to hell. One simple mistake and he loses everything he wanted.
Is Ryan man enough for the new life he's faced with or will he go back to his old ways?

Loved this quick read. I enjoyed Ryan's POV, seeing his internal struggle for what he wanted and what he needed to be happy.

I received this for an honest review.. I have to say that I really enjoyed reading this from his point of view. It was a good book and very worth the read. I felt a little more connected to the characters in this story.. This is not a standalone and should only be read after you read SLIDE

I didn't see the need for this to be honest. Usually when we see the story from the other point of view it's to give us a glimpse into how they are thinking but this didn't really show us anything different to Slide.
