During the course of reading the bible I not only stopped being a Christian in any sense, but I denounced religion as a whole. Now a book review may not be the place to spout about why theism is unnecessary and detrimental but lets just say......it is. After reading a good bit into this book, and selected famed verses, I have decided that, although I do not believe God exists, if he did he would be an absolute prick. The bible seemingly has nothing against rape, slavery, and genocide, but bring out the homosexuals and people are getting stoned to death as if society were still primal and savage. It is actually a little bit frightening to know that a large number of people on this planet worship a God that has committed horrible atrocities in the old and new testaments alike. I am more ethically sound than that batshit crazy, jealous, fiend. That being said, the bible does still have value to be read. Large portions of literature require at least a basic understanding of the bible and it is definitely a formidable book, it just belongs on the fiction shelf is all.
