The Partisan Rangers are devastating the Union. Their raids close to Washington bring fear to all. When they find two spies their world is turned upside down as they are disbanded and forced to join a regular cavalry regiment. They have to contend with new senior officers as well as traitors in their midst all the while having to scout behind enemy lines. A story based on factual evidence from Virginia in 1863.
I was born in 1950 in Lancashire and attended a boy’s grammar school. After qualifying as an English and Drama teacher in 1972, I worked in the North East of England for the next 35 years. During that time I did write, mainly plays, pantos and musicals for the students at the three schools in which I worked.
When I stopped teaching I set up my own consultancy firm and worked as an adviser in schools and colleges in the North East of England. The new Conservative Government ended that avenue of work and in 2010 I found that I had time on my hands; having started work at the age of 15 I found the lack of work not to my liking and used the time to research the Roman invasion of Britain and begin to create a novel. The result was The Sword of Cartimandua.
My decision to begin writing was one of the best I have ever taken.
Good follow on from the previous books and grips you to the end. However, yet again the written word is atrocious, who proof reads these books before they are published? A great story somewhat diminished by sloppy reviewing
Enjoyable period fiction with guerrilla warfare and revenge. Mr. Hosker does a wonderful job building up his characters in his novels. Looking forward to the next chapter in the series.
I enjoyed both books 1 &2. The story is a lot like the author's WWII commando story line, very predictable. There are many spelling errors in the second half. I will read book 3.
A page turner, a little predictable and exaggerated..but fun and exciting. Hero’s luck is truly amazing, and almost beyond belief, what it is supposed to be.
