I liked this book, but I would definitely paraphrase when reading this book to preschoolers because there's a lot of text. The children would become too fidgety if you read it word for word. There's also a few vocabulary words that would need to be introduced and explained beforehand (e.g. veterinarian, groom, etc.).
I used this book for my Pets Unit for preschool and it met my needs. It's a great book to introduce the children to concepts of print of nonfiction books (table of contents, title page, etc.) and for them to learn about how to take care of a pet cat. The book has a glossary at the end which is great and an index too.
The photographs in the book are to the point and go along with the text on the page.
