Bug Bite

Rate this book
Penelope Prue. Age, a mystery. Parents, uncertain. An orphan of a dying backwoods community. Down to her last dress, no shoes, nothing to eat, and a boyfriend who attempted to rape and threatened to kill her. The eerie voice in the woods past midnight pleading stridently for help scared him off, and a hopeless existence drives Penny's down a lonely blacktop with no intentions of ever returning.

She meets the bug on her way. It's the only name or description she will ever have for it, the bug. It's big. It's deadly. It's quite alien, it's lost, and it has no memory of its origin. And it's intelligent with a vengeance.

Once she becomes associated with the bug, she becomes dependent upon it for protection as it becomes dependent upon Penny as a guide in the strange world in which it finds itself. Neither will survive without the other with the world attempting to destroy the both of them.

Slowly, the bug regains its memory. It remembers a scheme of invasion of Earth in the works. It remembers that it and its kind are not the only alien presence on planet Earth, not even the most dangerous. They are being watched by beings far beyond their understanding. Decisions will be made determining the fate of both species, each facing extinction, one by virtue of a dying sun, another by the more common fate of overpopulating its world and ravaging its critical resources. Perhaps they can lend one another an inadvertent helping hand.
