"Dr. Glidden is one of the very few to realize the sobering truths that MD directed medicine consistently fails to cure disease, and that it causes massive amounts of harm in the process. Furthermore, he understands that people around the world who continue to hold onto their cultural home remedies live longer and healthier than those that buy into modern medical methods! In America, Hispanics outlive whites by 2.5 years and blacks by 8 years - and it has nothing to do with genetics! Few physicians understand how and why this happens. Few physicians have hands-on experience delivering non-drug treatments that actually help people to recover their health. Dr. Glidden does.
The MD Emperor Has No Clothes, by reconciling the ancient methods of Wholistic medicine with the urgent health needs of our modern world, offers a key to the very survival of America herself.
God-speed Dr. Glidden!" - Joel Wallach BS, DVM, ND
He brought out a couple of good points but then belabored them to death. There was a lot that he could have fleshed out to make a better case, but he didn't. I have read and researched a lot about today's medical practices and certainly about the abuse by Big Pharma. I was hoping to learn something new or something useful. The only thing I learned is that he wants to get on the same gravy train as Big Pharma by selling you his services and his vitamin and mineral packs.
The writing, itself, was extremely poor and the "facts" were certainly questionable. On page 120 he stated that "the average person only lived to be 25 years old" in an earlier era. On page 132 he stated "the Catholic Church started with only 2 people". And on and on ...
He says in one place that he's been in practice for 22 years and in another place that he's been in practice for 25 years. But throughout however long he's been in practice he only had one case history he cited - but he did it twice in two different chapters, but said, word for word the same thing.
The medical expert he quoted time after time and who had a nice promotional statement on the back cover is a VETERINARIAN!
This is pure bunkum. Don't waste your time or your money.
Tells you how traditional MD's think of disease and healing. You will understand why doctors never really cure they just cover up symptoms. Diet is the answer to healing.
This guy is like Michael Moore - while I agree with the overall viewpoint, he's heavy handed, fanatical and has an ax to grind (that's literally one of the chapters). At least Michael Moore is articulate. This is an anti-allopathic book, not a pro-wholistic health book. All he does is rail against his 'opponent' and tell you why they are bad, rather than telling you why his approach is better.
I've been into "alternative" health (what a misnomer!) for 40+ years and have read widely. Much of what he wrote I already knew, but I did get some new information to research.
Among many other faults, there is NO index (maddening in a non-fiction book), too many exclamation points, no evidence of any editing.
thumbs down! The only reason I gave it one star is that I did find two or three things to research.
READING this book and heeding the advice can be life-changing. Conventional medicine is fine for the battlefield and emergency care, but is counter-productive for general health and preventive care. Drugs are not the answer to general health but should only be used for emergencies, surgeries and temporary conditions. Dr Glidden is providing a sorely needed signal in the vast sea of medical noise and greed-motivated advertising. This book will open your eyes and allow you to take control of your health and realize better outcomes and maybe profoundly better outcomes starting by providing your body with good nutrition. Nutritional myths are debunked and the value of nutrition is brilliantly illustrated. Five stars!!
Although I learned some interesting, even intriguing, things from this book, in the end, I realized it was written to sell expensive supplements. So, it was a disappointment, & I wish I hadn't taken the time to read it.
I was leant this book and thought it would be an interesting different perspective on medicine. His opinionated writing style essentially belittles anyone in the medical field and it was hard to soak up any good points he makes because they are clouded by insults.
I don’t know how to rate this book - it was pretty badly written but I did find it readable. It didn’t provide great support ir documentation for its claims but it made sense and explained why there isn’t more research on simple ways of healing illness (it’s not profitable). I did learn some intriguing facts about the history of various kinds of medicine and it helped me better understand and explain why I am often suspicious of and dissatisfied with mainstream MDs’ care. I am happy to have access to naturopathic doctors here in WA state and hope their movement continues to gain support!
Very interesting and not surprising statements when it come to Big Pharma manipulation... so that was not new, but I liked the fact that he is sharing information on options and nutrition which I have thought for along time is one of the biggest issues today.
It is clear the author has a sound aversion to MD and conventional practice and he is very sarcastically sharing that over the course of the book...that doesn't mean he is wrong...focus on the message and not the messenger. I would probably feel the same way as he does if it was my field.
Quite an interesting book with lots of thought provoking ideas--especially about current medicine and pharmaceutical companies--PLUS good diet and food suggestions AND bad food suggestions!
Opened my mind to MDs and pharma. I was shocked at what I read. Hoping to implement these suggestions so that my family and I can get rid of our "diseases".
