The Last American Hitch-Hiker, Tales of Wander

This journal-style novel documents ten years of uncommon modus operandi. Having criss-crossed the states several times and met the craziest most thoughtful people, I decided to write a book. Folks who picked me up often just wanted to talk, telling me their life stories, dreams, and fears. Alongside these funny and sometimes disturbing confessions, I've included anecdotes about travel and our current state of culture. My front seat in the colosseum of commutation has given me a unique perspective and I've witnessed the worst and the best of society, documenting it all with as much humor as I could muster.I took a thumb, a notepad, a few pages torn from an atlas, heaps of humor, a few pieces of cardboard, snacks, my favorite music, a few lousy bucks, a slowly improving intuition, water of course, camp gear, my imagination, quality Italian hiking boots, and a straw hat. I did NOT bring a cellphone, a laptop, or prejudice.EYEBALL Studios You will laugh out loud, you will think deep thoughts, you will read every chance you get, you will sometimes wonder why I did it, you will hopefully pass it along to your friends and familly, it will not make you go out and start a hitch-hiking career, you will be satisfied yet left wanting Do not drink milk while reading this book, as it will surely end up shooting out your nose!To see illustrations and exerpts from the book or to find more information about "the making of" go to AmericanEyeball.com and look under the book title heading. Interesting anecdotal stories of Mark hitchhiking across the Midwest. I was looking for gems of wisdom but didn't find much. Funny the contradiction of putting down the normal lifestyle of consuming, owning cars, polluting the earth and working for the man yet he relies on people who live like that to support him by giving him rides and letting him crash at their place. He says his experience with the crazy people who pick him up makes him think the world is filled with junkies and bad people yet he gets picked up by people gracious enough to take the risk of picking him up. Colorful character for sure but with a tragic end.
