Filthy, dirty vampire slash – Violent, kinky and explicit.
Connor Chambers makes an unlikely vampire hunter. Blackmailed by The Red Priesthood, his one task is to seduce The First, an assignment that has its perks as well as its dangers. Between him and his target stand the Guardians though, and one in particular is determined he'll fail. Beautiful, volatile, rebellious – Mishka Alkaresh is not what he seems, and as the net closes in on both of them, Connor finds out who his enemies really are.
WARNING – The story itself is MxM and contains violence, bad language and explicit sexual content throughout. Those of a nervous disposition (or below the age of 18) should look away now.
In general, I liked this story but I'm partial towards vampires. I think there could have been a few less sex scenes. Some happened back to back and those just seemed overkill. The plot was good enough so that a few of those scenes could have just 'faded to black' without losing any of the hotness.
One character from the past I would have liked to have learned what exactly happened to him and how it affected the main character. We're given hints but never told specifically what happened. I think a few less sex scenes and resolution about this character would have earned it five stars from me.
I picked this up because I have a thing both for vampires and gay romance/erotica. I quite honestly wasn't expecting much, but it was honestly pretty good. There were some cases of bad grammar here and there, but if that doesn't bother you (and it does bother me, but only a little) it's definitely worth a read if you're into this type of story. Granted I was hoping for a bit more of a romantic "only one for me" type of ending, but it was overall good.
This book is m/m erotica, not with ordinary people, but with vampires – fantasy. In this fantasy world, all the male vampires (no mention of female ones) are beautiful, and incredibly hot sex is the answer for whatever ails one. It also means that consent becomes arguable, and pain is intermixed with pleasure. Not real, reader – this is fantasy. There is also a rather good plot, but this is secondary. Enjoy the ride.
I really liked this book but at the same time really disliked parts. There definitely needed to have more explanation as 3 quarters of the books feels a little all over the place with the story line but towards the end it is pulled together really well and finishes on a good note :) would be really interested in reading a sequel
