This is the fifth and concluding volume of manga author Aki Shimizu's adaptation of Natsuhiko Kyogoku’s “Hyakki Yakou” series with the second novel, “Mouryou no Hako” or “Box of Spirits”. It continues to build on the themes from “Ubume no Natsu”, like crime, suspense, body horror, psychological trauma, and esoteric Shinto rituals, while adding some mad science to the mix.

The novels in the “Hyakki Yakou” have theme monster for each novel. The first one was an ubume, for this one it's the mouryou.

I think the story went over the top with the ending. Especially a late revelation between the mad scientist and the femme fatale with a relationship twist that felt force. Otherwise, this was solid follow up to “Ubume no Natsu”.

ที่จริงเราควรอ่านเล่มนี้ก่อนปริศนาหัวกะโหลก ไม่มีเหตุการณ์ซ้อนทับกันหรือเรียงลำดับน่าสับอะไรหรอก แต่เป็นความรู้สึกว่าตอนนี้น่าจะมาก่อน ? เออ ยังไงก็ช่างเถอะ อ่านอันไหนก่อนหลังก็ไม่งงหรอก

กล่องภูตพราย ก็ยังซับซ้อนพันกันยุ่งเหยิงเหมือนเดิม อ่านมาแล้วสองเรื่อง (เท่าที่มีแปลไทย) รู้สึกว่าเอกลักษณ์ของอ.นัตสึฮิโกะก็คือคดีมากมายที่ดูเหมือนไม่เกี่ยวกัน แต่สุดท้ายจะค่อย ๆ มาบรรจบกันที่ความบิดเบี้ยวของใครหลาย ๆ คนนี่แหละ และเรื่องที่เซ็ตอยู่สมัยหลังสงครามโลกทำให้บรรยากาศอึมครึมซึ่งน่าจะมีสิ่งลึกลับ ภูตผี น่าขนลุกและไม่ปกติทั้งบ้านเมืองและผู้คนที่กลับจากสงครามได้อย่างไม่ยากเย็น ทุกคนจึงได้วิปริตกันไปหมด หากไม่ตั้งสติให้ดีก็อาจถูกดึงไป ‘โลกนั้น’ ได้โดยง่ายและอาจนำไปสู่โศกนาฏกรรมหลายฉากซึ่งจะรวมเป็นฉากใหญ่ฉากเดียวในท้ายที่สุด

Die Geschichte war sehr verwirrend. Ich habe beim Lesen sehr oft gestruggelt und hab mich schwer getan in die Geschichte zu finden.Es sind oftmals viele Informationen auf einmal und es ist schwer alles zu erfassen Der Protagonist ist ein Trost da er öfters angibt dass er auch nicht versteht um was es geht ,ich konnte mit ihm fühlen.
Ich habe mich auf diese Reihe sehr gefreut aber leider hat sie mich nicht abgeholt.

原作は未読(というか読める気がしない。。。)
『姑獲鳥の夏』同様、巻が進むにつれてどんどん引きこまれていった。
登場人物多いし話も複雑なので一気に読まないとわかんなくなりそう。
