Penance is a dark, gripping story that immediately pulls you into its world of supernatural power and betrayal. The concept of six humans walking into a ritual and six supernatural beings walking out is chilling and the twist of Reese being left behind makes the story even more haunting. I loved how Stephanie J. Bardy wove together vampires, werewolves, witches, and more without it ever feeling overcrowded. Reese’s quest for vengeance is raw and powerful, and it gave the book such an intense, emotional edge. If you enjoy supernatural stories that aren’t afraid to explore the cost of power and the hunger for justice, this is absolutely one to pick up. I can’t wait to see where this series goes next!
