I enjoyed the first third of this book - essays about how high your cutting board should be and how al dente really means undercooked and the impact of not cancelling reservations. But then she got a bit high handed about what is proper - or maybe it just became tiresome after 80 pages or so. I was bored by the detailed explanation of the kinds of oysters or why we should love radicchio, cabbage, pig, iceberg lettuce, etc.

I had to put this one down as there was too much whinging in it for me. She does say 'passions and peeves' but the peeves were getting to me.
