This novella takes place between the last chapter and the epilogue of A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor. It's mainly little slice of life and heap of smut scenes between Esther and her gentlemen, but there's also an adventure at the end that ties in with the over arching conflict of the Tempting Monster series.
Kathryn Moon is a country mouse who started dictating stories to her mother at an early age. The fascination with building new worlds and discovering the lives of the characters who grew in her head never faltered, and she graduated college with a fiction writing degree. She loves writing women were are strong in their vulnerability, romances that are as affectionate as they are challenging, and worlds that a reader sinks into and never wants to leave. When her hands aren't busy typing they're probably knitting sweaters or crimping pie crust in Ohio. She definitely believes in magic.

I'm gonna be perfectly honest. Amon was always my least favorite of ALL the Tempting Monsters. I never found his aloofness and arrogance particularly charming, but I tolerated him because of how well Kathryn wrote Esther's devotion to him.
This changed that. Not only was this a delightful revisitation to characters that feel like coming home after a long journey, it was also a nice slice of character development and bonding that I think this bunch needed.
This was the perfect spicy novella to read right before the third book in the series comes out. Esther and her gentlemen go on a dangerous quest and I ate it all up. The danger and mystery, the new foes, older more dangerous rivals, it was great. I love how close they all got. How they even referred to each other as family. Which is weird because family does not do that! Kidding aside, they were a unit. They were sure in their relationships and it was so nice to see them together again. I loved all the guys, Jonathon/Tanner, Auguste, Booker, Ezra, and especially Amon. Amon played a bigger part in this story because he needed to over come one of his struggles with Esther and seeing them figure it out was everything. Esther knows her gentlemen very well and this story showed us just how perfect they are for each other.
Esther and her crew of delicious gentlemen are back and this time, they're diving headfirst into a risky mission full of danger. I devoured every second of it!
What really stood out was how tight-knit they've become. They're not just lovers, they're a family. The bond they share is seriously special. They’ve grown so secure in their relationships and it was heartwarming to see them so solid and united.
Every one of the men shined, Jonathan, Tanner, Auguste, Booker, Ezra but Amon really stepped into the spotlight this time. Watching him work through his own struggles and the ones with Esther was raw, emotional and oh-so-satisfying. And Esther? She knows her men inside and out. This story just confirmed what we already knew: they’re absolutely perfect for each other!!
(little note: I was so hyped as we finally got Amon having shapeshift sex in his sphinx form with Esther uhh so good😫!!)
4.5 / 5.0 This short little bit of smut provides some filler for events and people from the main series. Nothing that’s necessary but all of it enjoyable.
Dang do I love these boys. So sweet and good and fun.
Getting to see Amon becoming so exceedingly comfortable with them... was perfect. I love that there was just a wee bit of adventure in this little slice of life thing.
So fluffy and spicy. With little adventure pockets.
4.5 stars. Simply for the vibes. I missed Esther and her men. So unashamedly themselves. They were the first harem I ever read, and my first truly monstrous read, so I can’t help but feel some nostalgia for what kickstarted my love for RH and monster romance. This is sort of an extended epilogue while also adding a bit more to the series’ overarching plot. Very steamy, very satisfying. All I needed was even more time with her and all her men!
We find our FMC, Esther, on a luxurious boat with her “men” on the way to Cairo- this is the story that takes place before they arrive there in Egypt during the epilogue of Rooksgrove Manor (and the debauchery and danger they get into along the way). The Men/Monsters: - [ ] Auguste- plays the “husband” (vampire, Amon bestows with day-walking abilities) - [ ] Amon (sphinx) - [ ] Ezra (Invisible man- hones ability to stay visible) - [ ] Mr. Tanner/Jonathon (Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde shifter) - [ ] Booker (golem- former Manor butler) - [ ] Witches (ancillary, presence noted on the boat- maybe could brew something for Jonathan) - [ ] Imps & trolls (ancillary, on the dance floor) - [ ] Mermaids- seen with binoculars from the boat Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 Darkness: 🖤 (not particularly dark) Spice: 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ pretty spicy Ending: resolved POV: The FMC
I love love loved ALoRM but was never an Amon fan. I wanted more of the characters as soon as the book was finished & was excited for this little novella! I was a little disappointed that it kind of centered around Amon although I feel like he's the one who was missing the most from the first book so I guess it makes sense. I wanted this to be spicier & feel like it missed the mark with that considerimg how spicy the book was. I also didn't like that the ending was so jam packed, I feel like it could have been paced better.
A little treat of Esther and her gentlemen and such a good treat indeed.
This time it's a short novel of Esther trying to find the whereabouts of Birsha and the smut and intrigue were so nicely tied in, albeit it's very short. I'm left astonished at the word wizardry of Kathryn in leaving me curious and sated even in a short novel.
The whole series is one of my top few and will definitely recommend.
A smutty slice-of-life novella - nothing too interesting or added that much character development to the existing relationships for the FMC Esther Reed.
I made the mistake of reading this before A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor. You definitely need to read that before reading Traveling with Gentlemen. I didn’t know what all the guys were and took me a little bit to figure it out. Overall it wasn’t a bad story. I wish it had different POV’s but not sure if the first book even had that.
Monster, Historical Fantasy, Polyam, 1st Single POV
Notes: Established Relationships, Traveling, Domestic Days, Adventure
Sex Notes: Pussy Eating, Fingering, Sex in a Semi-private Place, Blowjob with Teeth (for Booker), Handjob, Praise, Exhibitionism, Shifted Sex with Amon (Sphinx)
I really like the Tempting Monsters series and this novella was exactly what I was looking for. It was nice reading again about Esther and her men (Mr. Tanner ily). It also provided more information about Birsha and expanded the world building.
i loved this book. i loved 'hanging out' with Esther and hey little harem again. Their adventures were fun to read about. I am so happy i ran into this book in the author's book club. i recommend reading it. i am looking forward to moving forward in the series!
This was a great little adventure showing Esther and her men in Egypt, and also meeting a couple of new characters and making an important bit of progress in the fight against Birsha.
This was a cute little read to add to the Birsha storyline. There was definitely more emotional connection between Esther and her gentlemen than the mostly physical I saw in A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor. Enjoyed it 👍🏻
