Yes it's outdated, but I found it rather useful in helping me put together a good mind map of the places I was planning to go, things to look out for, foods to try, cultural observations... Worth a read.

Despite the title, this book is an extremely useful resource for solo and group travelers alike. Travel books tend to date very quickly-this book is not as updated as frequently as others, yet still remains extremely relevant. Great maps and practical information. Includes information on well visited tourists sites as well as “off the beaten path” travel. This is the only travel book I used while living in Japan and really the only one you need.
