This is a nice early reader book that begins with a town and slowly focuses in on a tighter and tighter picture until the focus is on the birthday party that is going on. I liked the way that the book took very simple language, but was able to capture a sense of mystery for kids to think about what might come next. As so many early readers just focus on sounds and word recognition, it is always nice to find ones that have a story to them. Nice illustrations also.

I loved this book for Pre-K and Kindergarten. It was a very simple read that can warrant a good social studies integration. It is a beginners book for learning about location and possibly mapping. The book read like: In the town there is a house, In the house there is a box, In the box there is... So the students could learn about birds eye view due to the illustrations and discuss location.

This book is about a birthday party, and birthday parties are my favorite. My favorite part was the part where she got the house, and in the house was a little room, and four people were sitting at the table, and they had a box on the table, and there was a cake in the box with writing on the table, and I wish I had that box.

We really liked the way this story gets smaller from town to box then expands again from box to town. Very clever and good for early reasoning.
