It's been so long since I read this book, but I'll try to write a review. The main thing I remember is that I loved this book, through and through. The writing was engaging, the plot and tension rose and fell over and over; wildly exciting stretches, (surviving the outlaw attack), a believable account of surviving as an 18 year old frontier girl alone, to taking her revenge on the bad guys. Couple an amazing knowledge of herb lore, with a cold serving of revenge, and you have an outlaw who is never heard from again. The author leaves us to surmise on the awful death by writing the events leading up to it, (the girl brought the fellow a poisoned meal) but not mentioning the man at all thereafter. Entwined within the story is her romance with the sheriff, who can't condone the murders, but won't raise a posse to go after the gang. There is also a dry sense of humour that I adored. Definitely a book I would recommend.
