Now in its Fifth Edition, Nurse Practitioner's Business Practice and Legal Guide continues to provide a solid foundation for students and practicing nurses to build confident and effective practices. A must-have resource for every new or current nurse practitioner (NP), it defines what an NP is and does while explaining the legal scope with specific state and federal regulations.
Completely updated and revised with essential state-by-state appendices, Nurse Practitioner's Business Practice and Legal Guide, Fifth Edition offers expert insights on prescribing, hospital privileges, negligence and malpractice, risk management, health policy, ethics, and measuring NP performance.
Further, it addresses important issues such * Developing an employment relationship * Undertaking a business venture * Giving testimony before the state legislature * Composing a letter to an insurance company about an unpaid bill * Teaching at a school of nursing * Serving as president of a state or national organization
Included with each new print book is an Access Code for a Navigate Companion Website containing the highly renowned Pearson Report, a state-by-state national overview of nurse practitioner legislation and healthcare issues, including rules and regulations, statistics, government policy, and reimbursement information.
Essential information for NP practice that is not easily found elsewhere. Recommended for all NPs. However, the text was mostly focused on primary care APNs and very little was mentioned on the specialties. As a PMHNP, I would have liked her to write a bit about specific issues surrounding each specialty.
Plenty of stuff I hadn't considered. Don't be intimidated by the size. A good portion is detailing each state's laws and regulations...little of which will apply to you.
