Winning with Purpose, Raising Our Game and Lifting Our Teammates, On and Off the Court By Satch Sullinger is mainly about Satch Sullinger and his ups and downs in life. It mentions from when he was born to his coaching days and his life long goals he encountered along the way of playing basketball and coaching it. As a young man, Satch was only being raised by one parent and that was his mom. His farther had left the two not wanting to help raise their one and only child. His bad choices led to a world of drugs and crime. However, his college coach heard of his basketball experiences in high school and still had faith in him and was going to give him a second chance. Satch had been taken over by drugs but his coach had given him hope once more to take away the shame and depression over those past months. Satch later went on to coach many basketball teams and even a division two state championship team. Satch Sullinger later went on to coach Trey Burke in high school along with his son Jared and JJ Sullinger. I thought that the book was inspirational and had entertaining parts in the book at the same time. Satch Sullinger mentioned in the book, “The movie has to be something I can relate to. Most of these movies are about getting that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get it done. We try to coach kids to take advantage of those opportunities.”(56). The quote represents the inspiration that was in the book. I would recommend this book to people who have interest in basketball or people who like sports in general. This book is probably for ages 12-23 and is inspiring to help you understand basketball more and understand sports in general better.
