Cassidy Reeves is normally a self-assured professional publicist, capable of reigning in the most recalcitrant of clients in the Big Apple. That is, until she has to deal with her own modern-day devil in denim jeans, David Madison. But are his Italian temper and smoldering good looks any match for her velvet glove tactics? Banter abounds in this modern-day Tracy and Hepburn collision…with the requisite happy ending.
This light-hearted romantic comedy detailing the modern perils of finding love in the big city will be sure to delight readers. If you enjoyed Bridget Jones' Diary or Confessions of a Shopaholic, you will love this romantic romp!
Sarah O'Rourke is the alter ego of two best friends who have taken their passion for romantic fiction and erotica to the publishing world. Born and raised in the southern United States, one lives near Louisville, KY, while the other resides in Atlanta, Georgia. Neither is ever very far from a tall glass of sweet iced tea, their dog-eared copies of Gone With the Wind, or their Steel Magnolias DVDs!
Formerly an accountant and a chemist, they are now overworked, stay-at-home moms who adore their children, their husbands...and writing about love in every way possible!
I'd give this 3 1/2 stars. The story takes place over a 12 hour period. Cassidy is the publicist for David, a famous author who also thinks a lot of himself and not a lot about others. He has come to a meeting where she has a list of complaints that he must address. I don't think they made it through the whole list but you get a good idea of David's ego. Of course they both have a thing for each other but won't admit it or act on their feelings. I didn't like David much because of that ego, but you could see underneath that he did care for Cassidy and had for a few years. Will they get together? You'll only find out if you read the book!
I really enjoyed this book from Sarah O'Rourke. Dave Madison is an author with an ego. He feels as though he is the best there is. His publicist Cassidy is tired of always cleaning up his messes though. He has three very different ex-wives that always call Cassidy with their demands and needs. His daughter is showing that she is just as difficult as her father and then there is everyone else that Dave comes in contact with. Dave has serious feelings for Cassidy but she keeps shutting him down. This book will have you laughing at the antics of Dave and his life. Definitely throw this book in your bag for the beach or even just a night off from the world!
It was an interesting premise - but the delivery of their story just didn't work for me. She complains & yells. He has a cocky swagger & waggles his eyebrows all the time (?).
The first 47% of the book was spent on one conversation in her office..
I just felt like this could have been developed into more of a story, maybe with a little more depth (and range of emotions?) for the characters.
For a single office visit, a dinner & an hour or so of 'other' this book could have been a LOT shorter & still gotten the same point across.
What a refreshing read. This book kept my interest and I would have given it 4 stars if not for the editing errors throughout. The characters were so wonderful and was caught up in their bantering back and forth that you almost felt like you were there with them, especially when everyone is together at the restaurant. My only real problem is the book ended way to soon. I want to know more about Dave and Cass and what happened after the six months was up.
I absolutely LOVED this book! Was rolling on the floor - laugh out loud funny. David and Cassidy just so clicked with me. Read right through - could not put it down!
