O amintire de la Paris

Rate this book

(...) Fiecare gest, fiecare privire si fiecare cuvant pareau studiate, facandu-te sa te intrebi daca nu cumva ceea ce vedeai nu era decat o masca slefuita cu migala in timp, in spatele careia se ascundea un necunoscut imprevizibil, ca toti marii timizi.“

This is the story of a psychiatrist, James Cobb, who gets involved in solving a forty year old mystery, involving a dissappeareance and possibly a murder.

After one of his conferences, James is approached by an old and successful businessman, Joshua Fleischer, who asks him for a brief discussion, which is afterwards followed by a letter.

The letter is an invitation to Fleischer's country house, for some private therapy sessions, as we find out that he was suffering from a terminal illness and wanted to put his affairs in order.

James Cobb accepts, only to learn that the businessman wanted a few hypnosis sessions to uncover the truth about a traumatic event that took place in Joshua's youth, in Paris.

It was an interesting book, a very quick read, the kind of story who rattles you and only brings forth more questions. The characters were nicely developed, the mystery wrap-up was very well executed, but I would have liked the author to go more into James & Julie's story, or just leave it out altogether. All in all a good read, and I am so glad to have discovered this author, looking forward to reading more of his books!
