From New York Times bestselling author Wahida Clark, comes the highly anticipated next installment in the Queen’s Payback series. Fans will rush to this latest installment while new fans will be eager to discover Wahida Clark’s unmatched melodrama.
Someone wants every member of the consortium dead and they’ll stop at nothing to make that happen. Meanwhile Shan has transferred back into Redbone and has taken it to a whole new level. Nick suspects Shan is still in love with Briggen even though she is with him. Janay has turned over a new lease on life but her ties to Crystal are always a challenge. Everyone is gunning for Dark and with The List in the hands of Cisco’s wife, Joy, Dark’s chances of taking over Detroit are threatened more than ever before. Everyone is fueled by fire and seeking the ultimate revenge.
Wahida Clark was born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey. She decided to start writing fiction while incarcerated at a women's federal camp in Lexington, KY. Her style is street, raw, and she has an imagination that's in overdrive. When you read her novels they are so real you are convinced of one of three things: that you are inside the book, you know the characters, or you just have to meet them. Her first novel, Thugs And The Women Who Love Them and the sequel, Every Thug Needs A Lady appeared on the Essence Best Sellers List.
I have re-read the whole series of payback is a myth by Wahida Clark. The last installment was awesome, I couldn't put it down. Wahida Clark has always did the damn thing.
This book was so good !! I enjoyed the audiobook ! It was a good listen and hard to push pause ! All loose ends are tied up and this book makes for an explosive book 4! I’m sure book 5 is in the works !
I usually love Wahida Clark's book, but I had a hard time staying interested in this one. There was so much meaningless stuff going on, to many senseless double crosses, like Shan turning on Briggens, I couldn't see THAT after all he'd done for her. I'm not sure if I'm going to read the next one. This series is about over.
OMG this was an explosive finally to the Payback series Shan became a true boss bitch and wasn't taking any shit off anyone.
Nyla was a dumb ho who got played in the long run she kept blaming others for her husband's untimely demise that was in the streets.
Nick was gettin' played on both sides first by the police and then by Shan this book was a great read I truly enjoyed it sad that its over but it was well worth the wait
I love it but Briggen and Shan belong together. They did their dirt to each other but it was all love. I would have rather Born, Dark and Nick to go instead of Crystal, Briggen, Boomer and Marquis(my heart went out to Janay) as a mother I would have been in maniac and kill mode too. Wahida, you did your thing by writing this one. Congrats
This book sizzling from the very beginning to the end!!!!! I loved the whole thing and wish Payback #5 is out or something. It’s crazy how Shan’s character has developed throughout the story. She went from being a basic working bitch that let men control her to being a certified power driven boss. I honestly felt like she did the right thing killing Briggen because he was still living in the past thinking that stuff will always go his way and that he’ll always be in control. Shan was wrong too, but for him to order a kidnapping on the mother of his children was just a low blow. Now what if the kidnapping went left and she would’ve died? This book had so many twist and turns that I couldn’t keep up it up with. The biggest one tho was that Born was behind controlling Dark this WHOLE time!!!! Now that was crazy . Wahida really has us thinking that it was Sherman the whole time. And Nick was such a trick any bad bitch can throw him some pussy and his whole focus is disheveled🙄😒😒🤦🏾♀️. I’m glad Shan didn’t end up with his stupid ass tho and Nyla lol this whole time sis was seeking payback but she got the ultimate payback: death. Dark lived by the sword and died by the sword not really surprised that he got offed. Also I liked that ur only a hoe if u let a nigga take control and about how women need to stick together. The Queen of Street Lit DID THAT!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥

I wasn't as into this book as the other 3 but it was still good, nonetheless. I did get lost in some of the characters as I tried to think back and sort out who was who. Reading multiple series by the same author created a situation where they were all melding together and it was difficult to get them sorted out. The flow of the book moved fairly quick as there was a lot that needed to get done in a short number of pages. It was fast paced and each page required you to keep up as all the loose ends had to be cleaned up. The book says its the series final but there is room for more books, so stay tuned?
Shan is off the chain. I definitely underestimated her in the beginning but now it’s clear, the game turned her cold and unpredictable. The twists in this book were crazy and exhilarating to read everything unfold. However there is more to come from the way it ended this series is not over. And I can wait to see what Shan, Joy and Janay do in the next book. This series started with the men running it all only to end up with women on the throne. I love it!!! This is my favorite book in the series so far.
I loved this whole series! Wow! Some very unexpected twists and turns in this one! This book is was a great read just like any Wahida Clark novel is! There were many times I dropped my jaws reading this installment due to how well the story was written by the Queen of Street Lit- it felt like I was watching a movie! Great work as always Queen!
Everybody wants to payback the person that did them wrong. They think that will get them to the top, but it's always someone else to take care of after the payback. Who will be the last one standing?
I won't say this finale was horrible but it wasn't a bad read.. Too many extra new characters she should've stuck with people who where in the previous books. To me Shan was in the story but no as much as the other previous books. I won't reveal Briggen's situation but she needs to do a part two & tie him back in somehow lol He & Shan are meant for each other.. But Shan confused me a lot I think Guilt will eventually get the best of her but We need to know Janay's fate.. & What will come of Joy & Born? But I will say Briggen was hurt by Shan's actions in the previous books but I don't think he was gonna harm her If you pay attention when he assigned Mo'Betta the mission he said not to hurt her. But there needs to be a part two but only with the Main characters we know & Briggen tied back in somehow to work out things with Shan I loved them as a couple :(
Spoiler Alert, Don't even read it because I gave away some information that you might not like so find out on your own lmao.
This book was full of surprises dang; I was making all types of faces reading this book lmao. It was really good; I'm glad a lot of the characters in this book got what they deserved, and I knew Briggen and Dark were going to get it lmfao.. I'm more glad Dark got it because he was something else I tell you, and Born dang I didn't see that coming at all he was behind everything like d*mn homie. You fool everybody including me, plus I'm glad Baby doc wait that's not his name LMFAO I mean I'm glad baby boy didn't die I liked that dude. I didn't like ol' girl baby daddy whichmacall Briggen cousin baby daddy I waiting for him to die didn't get my wish oh well lmao good read though.
Wahida never ceases to amaze me! The moment you think you know what's going in a curve ball is thrown so fast it knocks you off your game. Never in a million years would I have guessed the ending. There are so many different things going on that you will never know who you can trust. I can not wait for the next installment to see how this all plays out. If you noticed, I didn't mention any names in this review reason being I didn't want to give anything away. Love is definitely blind even when you know the truth & keeping your enemies close is such an understatement.
Disappointed in this installment of the series. There were too many characters and storylines to keep up with when I would rather focus on the key players. It was the same raw, edgy, uncut hood tale as the others with ruthless murders, and devious characters out to get paid or get payback. Even though there are several questions answered, the constant switching of characters and trying to figure out whose playing whom was annoying. The ending was an interesting twist that leads one to believe there is more to come from Shan and the new queen bee on the block, Joy.
Definitely not as good as the first two. Plenty of times I found myself skipping ahead because of the diff characters. It wasn't bad but it def didn't end well. All books shouldn't have happy endings but the love between Brigg and Shan should've went on. I was left thinking ok what will happen with Janay? Really after all that talk Nyla ended up getting screwed too? Oh so Born is on the up and up with Joy? (which makes no sense) Does this mean Shan will eventually get clipped as well?? Left with too many questions. Hated the ending to a great series it honestly sucked.
Blood, Sweat and Payback is the fourth book in the Payback series, which catches up with Briggen , who is still in prison; Shan, his wife, who turned her back on him but still holds a place for him in her heart; Dark, who is trying his best to take over the streets of Detroit; Crystal, Big Choppa's daughter who falls for Dark's bs and finds out too late; and Janay, who is trying her best to stay away from Big Choppa's world. This book is the true definition of payback.
So initially, I thought this was the Finale of the "Thug" series. It isn't....and I'm not sure that it's even the finale because there definitely has to be another book in the series.
Anywho...Tasha and Tray Macklin are back with the gang. Charli Li is still crazy but Tasha is a contender. Kyron seems to think that Tasha is his, Tray helps him remember that isn't the case. Just read it...lol
While reading this book i kept finding myself say wait who is this??? Way too many characters and story lines...i just finished it and I'm still kind of lost... It might be because its been quite a while since i read the first two i don't know...i am a HUGE fan of wahida clark but I'm sad to say this book just wasn't it for me....ill go back to trae and Tasha any day!!!
Spoiler Alert Wow just wow I didn't even see half the stuff coming in this book. I like dang a lot of people got what they deserved. And Born was behind everything like dang. Smh. That dude something else I tell you. Good book though glad Baby boy didn't die, though. And Briggen got what he deserved though because of how he was doing and what he did even though I liked him.
I am truly disappointed in this finale of the Payback series. It was to many characters and story lines going on that I could not even keep up. I think this book did not bring any type of closure to the series.
I loved this story. It kept me on my toes and I was glad that Shan finally pulled herself out of the naive role and got it together. This book will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. The exact type of book that I love. Hats off to Wahida for this one.
I don't know if too much time elapsed between readings or, between books. But, I had little to no clue as to who anyone was. That's fine. You catch on. Wahida Clark is a good storyteller. The way the story ended left room for another, and possibly another after that.
when i say i love this book, its very deep and crazy off the wall. Off the chain this book rite here had so many twist and turn and for Dark he was somethings else. i'm so ready for a new book, Great Job Goodread.
This series was very "busy." This final installment had multiple storylines that involved payback that all led to the main "payback" and if you add in all the characters it was confusing at times. You might have had to rewind to keep up.
Wahida always get five stars from me, she can do no wrong. Not my favorite installment in this payback series but definitely worth the wait & a great read.
