This is Amy's first book. The second and third are on their way.
It's A story of how the little things add up to be the big things even when we don't realize it; of how our words are so powerful when we speak them to others; and that what we say and how we say it can really become our "superhero cape" - our way to build each other up. It's the story of how this little girl's mom makes her aware of all the good that she does, and praises her for it; that children learn from how we as adults respond to things, take notice, and treat people.
I am married & have 2 awesome kids, Sadie & Scott, who inspire me every day. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Pathology and a Masters Degree in Teaching. The plan was for me to start teaching once my kids were in school, but a different opportunity came along which allowed me to continue staying at home with my kids. I started with a Direct Sales company in 2004 and basically, it’s been my job to help make women feel great about themselves ever since, and to teach others do the same. I have trained, mentored, and inspired (that's what they tell me, anyway!) thousands of people. Pretty cool when you have a passion for the positive!
A wonderfully inspiring story of what makes the world really go around. We ALL have the power to make those around us feel loved, wanted, and important. A Girl With a Cape: The True Story About the Superhero in All of Us gently reminds us that the kind, little things we do each day, DO make a difference...and it is important to carry on, since you don't really know when that one little act of kindness will be the antidote for grumpiness, sadness, or defeat.
The illustrations and rhyming sequence of words work well together. Amy Logan has created a story for both young and the young-at-heart. An inspirational picture book that could be read again and again to remind us of the superpowers that we all possess. Loved it!
Great for teaching. Cadence and rhyme similar to Dr. Seuss. The true story of a young girl who wants to achieve greatness by doing something important. She ties on a scarf and pretends it is her super-hero cape. She gets discouraged after a few days, though when she thinks her kind acts are unimportant, yet she cannot see the numeroius, positive ramifications that result from her simple kindnesses.
Teaches individual importance, anti-bullying, working together, paying it forward, etc. Gets kids thinking!!!
A Girl With A Cape is a sweet story about the importance of kindness. It is so easy to look over the tiny details of life, such as saying good morning or giving a hug to each individual student every morning, but these little things add up to make a big difference. I believe this book would be a great book to read at the beginning of the year with any primary age child in school. Such an great message to children (and truly adults) of all ages, your words and kind acts matter! There are also many activities a teacher could do with this book in the classroom. I have an "encouragement envelope" in my classroom in which students compliment others and we read them aloud at the end of the week, this book would be an awesome introduction for that! Love this book!
A Girl With a Cape shows how one little girl wears an adorable scarf as a cape, trying to be a superhero and help everyone around her. Her tiny good deeds brighten everyone's day, even if she doesn't realize how much her actions inspire and affect everyone. It's such a sweet book that made me tear up reading it, what a powerful message that kindness as a superpower. My son enjoyed reading this and wanted to run around wearing a cape of his own.
A Girl With A Cape is an inspiring book that will empower children and adults to spread kindness every day. It's so much more than a book about kindness though. I was not sure initially about purchasing this book because it was about a girl and, well, my youngest child who is who would be reading it with me is a boy. That would have been a mistake. My son LOVES the book (and the series of books). He wears his cape with pride. If you have children anywhere in your life (kids, grand kids, classrooms, etc.) this book is a must-have! "YOU MATTER"
This is a wonderful book to read to your children about the importance of helping others and the impact that has on a person. A Girl With A Cape is one of my daughter's FAVORITE books! She has us read it to her all the time. We have all 3 of Amy's books and each one is perfect....Spoiler for anyone who hasn't read them all....My daughter loves to drop pennies for others to find and have a "lucky" day..A wonderful book that both children and adults can learn something from.
I love this book because it is a message about how all of us have the ability to be kind, which is it's own kind of super power! We all have the ability to make a difference, even if your small -- "your words make you tall." Such an important message for children to hear and the illustrations are lovely.
Love, love, love this book! A simple story that conveys a big message: Our words are powerful. "You ARE a superhero, your WORDS are your cape. When you say kind things, it makes people feel great."--Amy Logan, 2013
This is a great book about kindness and paying it forward. There is also a secondary lesson about parenting. Parents need to build up their children rather than put them down.
Excellent story book about a little girl who learns the big lesson that kindness is infectious. An uplifting read and useful for families, teachers, and churches.
